Thank you for all of your kind thoughts and vines for Sid. Please keep them coming. I appreciate all of you so much. It makes me feel good and hopeful to know there are people out there that value their cats as much as I do when all I hear from most everyone I know is that if Sid were their cat, they would have euthanized him by now.
Karrie, I did join and post on the pancreatitis group. I've had such a rough day that I haven't been able to read much on there yet. The emergency vet printed a bunch of articles for me too so I have a lot of reading to do.
I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night and have not eaten that well !! When I have a sick cat it consumes me totally.
I picked Sid up from the emergency hospital this morning after last's night scary drop and all day he was acting so bad. I thought for sure he was dying. He just laid there breathing fast with his head on his paws. I was very scared and spent most of the day petting him until I took him back to the emergency hospital to see if his kidneys were permanently failing, etc or if there was anything that could be done. I thought I was going to have to make a hard decision (which I still might). Well, bloodwork shows he is in DKA again and that his kidney values have actually improved (BUN is 44 that's all I know) and his HCT is 26% which is kind of low but not low enough to indicate his kidneys aren't doing what they are supposed to do at least somewhat. His potassium level has also improved. If his pancreas would just get with the program and quit doing this - we might actually be on the road to recovery. I haven't lost hope yet.
