Morning all
where shall i begin....rough night for this bean...Rocket was pretty restless going from one place to the other...i managed to get him in bed a few times and he slept...i'm beyond tired hence the late condo

sorry if i can't visit condos today...i hope everyone is ok...

AMPS 101 fed proplan
+2 56 fed proplan and gave zofran as he was lip smacking (he was due to have it later but opted to give sooner)
+3 50.....fed....i fell asleep and was going to test +2.5 so luckily i got up....
+3.5 76 no food given
+4.5 74 fed some evo with proplan
+5 85.....soon after i tested i went to call the vet's office to give an update from my email to vet...i found him laying on the litter box which has NEVER happened in the time he's been dx with CRF....

so as i was on the phone with the vet tech i told her mild trembling even after giving bupe last night...drooling as well...restless prob from the bupe...but hard to tell....

so we are going to treat it as a CP flare up and give the bupe, zofran and pepcid along with fluids and the pheno....if over the weekend things don't improve then i will have to bring him in on Monday back to the vet...

i haven't noticed any trembling this morning...only drooling and so after giving him fluids at +5 he got chicken dust and i gave the bupe....

i'm really running on empty....but while he sleeps just now...i will try to grab a nap myself...hard to do when DH is out and about....Comet seems to be doing better and has had solid poops....so hopefully his upset tummy has cleared up....

Claudia: maybe CP is what is going on and your course of treatment will start to address it. I'm glad Comet is better...one less thing on your plate. I hope you get some rest today. As every day, sending tons of healing vines and snowflakes for you all. Rocket is one lucky kitty!!

Its really hard to see when they just lay in the litter box *tears*. Its not necessarily related to the crf. Poor guy just doesnt feel well. :sad:

I'm so sorry that Rocket is still not feeling well. I really hope things will turn around soon for him. It is so hard on us beans to see our babies feel like that. I'm glad Comet is feeling better. You really don't need both of them sick. I hope you get some naps in today. And don't worry about us. We'll be here when you need us. Sending prayers for Rocket and you ((((Claudia)))).

each time i close my eyes and start falling asleep...bad thoughts come to mind....i'm restless....managed only 1 hr off/on nap...

he was fed at +6.5 and ate it all...FF with no liver dust (thanks Sienne...will reduce the intake for him)

need to go run errands...so no rest for this bean....he peed and is now on his heated bed sort of sunbathing....he is too high to move...the blinds are not fully open as i'm sure he is sensitive to the light....so just enough for him to get sunlight....

i can tell he has not slept since i gave the bupe...even giving subq fluids didn't make him sleep....so hopefully he will now....i will be worried when away...but DH wants to take me out for lunch....then we need to buy rugs to replace the damaged ones from the bathroom and hallway....i need them if Rocket likes to go and sit there....

was a C&S ever done to rule out a UTI? you may have mentioned, i have a horrible memory.

I haven't followed all your posts so forgive me if I'm asking something you've already answered

1. how are his teeth? Drooling can be a sign of a bad tooth
2. did the drooling and tremors start at the same time? did they start after the introduction of a new drug?

these symptoms do not sound like anything I've read about pancreatitis. could he have gotten into a poisonous plant or something?

pmps 117- fed and ate a lil bit...not much...FUR SHOT i'm sure

culture was done and was negative as of last week
no new plants or anything new in the house....i don't use chemicals to wash hardwood/tile floors

vet thinks tremors are either due to pain or the pheno is not doing it's job...last pheno test Jan 3 = 68 (65-196 range)...so lowish

lip smacking and drooling can be sign of nausea i believe....he lip smacks quite a bit...

as per vet his teeth can wait...i mentioned it to the vet tech this morning if it was that...but for this weekend i'm to treat it as though is CP flare up...i don't have any other choice...

he eats/pees/poops just fine....the only troubling thing is the tremors....and now the drooling...lip smacking

current meds:
phenobarbital 7.5 mg bid (for a cat his size 7.13 kgs this is a low dose but he did well for 2 1/2 yrs up til recently so vet thinks dose needs to be upped but not for now)
pepcid ac 1/4 tablet bid
zofran 1 mg bid
LRS 150 cc daily..but since all this started i've tried to give a second session and splitting 100 cc each
buprenorphine 0.52 ml every 8 hrs....but since full dose makes him NOT eat and with insulin he needs to eat i've opted to half the dose to every 4 hrs (Thanks Sienne for pointing out the effects of the drug via pm)...
Lantus 0.5u bid

we stopped giving
Aluminum hydroxide (i was supposed to stop it 1 week and reintroduce it to him this past Thursday but since he is not well i haven't given him any)
Denosyl (1 tablet daily)
Salmon Oil (however much fits into one size #4 capsule- daily)
miralax (to help him not get constipated from the AH)
Cosequin (1 capsule mixed in food daily)

i was going to start introducing him one thing at a time slowly as not to overwhelm his system....but was not able to due to him still not well....

lip smacking has been there for a bit now (even vet saw the tremors and lip smacking when i took him in Jan3)....new drugs are buprenorphine and pepcid....he was getting zantac up until a week ago...in the past i've had to switch from zantac to pepcid and vice versa...

drooling i just noticed it yesterday....i have been trying to concentrate on the tremors that i never even thought of checking his mouth....until yesterday that i was touching him all over....

vet instructions were....if drooling and tremoring then to consider it being pain...if tremoring and no drooling then it was more neurological....so yesterday i saw drooling and tremoring....

i don't know what to think or do....my head spins and i have a massive headache....don't know what else to think...

i'm just at a loss not knowing what to think cause he DOES eat when not HIGH on drugs....

he is to get the bupe in half hr but i will hold off as i don't know if he will drop still....

got fluids and chicken dust after +2.5
not interested in food now....hope the chicken dust ties him over for a lil bit....he is somewhat restless/hyper....probably the bupe...who knows....i still have not given next dose....

mild trembling but no drooling...so i don't know....this is all too confusing....

Claudia, I'm no vet, but if there is an abscess or something then this might explain the drooling. Might take dental xrays to determine.

things always happen over the weekend, don't they?
he is resting now...ate at +3.5 so no testing....

i will contact the vet and see if xrays can be done to determine if it's a tooth....but with all his other issues i doubt he would do ok being put under to get a dental....he has had a sedative in the past to get his cardiogram (may09)and also his ultrasound (jun08)....and both times he had a tough time....each time was done on a friday...and took well into Sunday afternoon for him to come out of it...i literally had to hold him 24/7 like a baby and fed him...it was awful...but if it has to be done then i guess it has to be done...

the lip smacking was way before the drooling....and i wonder why the zofran and pepcid have not taken care of that....

question now is....do they still eat if they have an abscess??????

i may need to take him in this week anyways if things don't improve...so i will ask the vet then....thanks for mentioning it....

the weird thing is that when he gets all excited happy like playful like he tremors a bit....so i wonder if the reason why he is taking way too long to get better is due to him having a CP flare up along with needing his phenobarbital upped....

vet looked at his teeth on jan3 and said nothing that needed urgent attention that we needed to get him over this hump first...whatever was causing it...but taking him back this week i will mention it again about the dental...

it's the eating ok that is throwing me off....but mind you i have to bring the food to him....probably being high from meds or in pain make him not go to his bowl....i don't know anymore....this surely will make me commit myself in an institution....if only i knew what was wrong!

+4.5 79 still no food yet...since +3.5 which i'm ok with

prior of testing he was alert and seemed like he wanted to play....so he did...for a whole 6 mins!!! YAY!!!

he has not been in the closet since this morning....he has chosen to be next to the bed sort of tucked in near the heater (his bum actually is sort of against the heater but not touching it....so he gets warmth there)...each time i move he wakes up....almost not trusting i will go and poke him...

he's decided he's had enough play time...so back to resting....

something positive at least....don't want to get too happy (don't wanna jinx it)

have not given him the bupe still.....drooling has stopped for now....so have the tremors....for now....
