Happy Sunday where did it go? :? :? Sending prayers and healing vines to all our LL kitties and beans who need them today.

As I wrote last night on our condo, looks like it was definitely bad juice which had caused her shed to be drained. It took a few cycles to refill her shed and then bam did she come down fast last night. I had given her a dosecrease last night but it had no time to take effect when she came booming down. Since she is on lev, she does not onset until usually +5 and she was headed down from +10 yesterday. Guess I shouldn't have given the dosecrease with her coming down but she's suckered me in a couple times....came down and then went right back up. I took her back down to sk1.25u this morning since she got to 30 last night...Lil Stinka Locomotive.

She slept alot yesterday...I think those high numbers, evidently from lack of insulin, caught up to her but last night and today she has been a wild baby...acting like she felt great, playing, purring, into everything. She chased a little fuzzball all over the house earlier and had Mike and me in stitches. We hope she'll get back to her lovely cycles now that we know what the problem was. I'm not happy about the pens..all of them have punked out in less than 30 days.

We've been having a relaxing Sunday...went btb, read the paper, watching football, and I had a few more DM issues to deal with this morning but all is quiet now. It's raining here and I have a big pot of homemade stew on the stove. Hope you are happy and warm and have had a great day.

wondered where you'd been today.... glad all is well with everyone there.

Quite the night last night. I'm glad it all worked out OK. Not too bad of a bounce today either, That is nice. Be good Gracie! Good luck with the new dose, and the new pens.

I hep you both have a relaxing evening.

That new juice really got some action! Too bad about the bounce today. I hope she settles back into her usual pattern for you. Stew, yum!

Well looks like the new juice was just the trick! Will you be taking back your pens?

I hope Miss G decides to break this bounce and comes down for you.

Have a wonderful evening!

Hi Marje,
Bummer on the pens. Looks like you got a bad batch. Perhaps you ought to write to the manufacturer. It certainly can't do any harm. I buy my Lev. in the penfil cartridges (5 to a box; I order them from CanadaDrugsOnline). I wonder if there might be an extra manufacturing step getting the the cartridges into the pens that might cause a degradation of the insulin?

Come down from that bounce, Gracie!

Enjoy the evening, all of you, and scritches to Gracie, Tobey, and Gus, (I'm sure Tobes would rather have cimmamum cookies!)

Bummer about the pen situation...do you think it's particular to this batch, or is it a Lev thing? I hope you get it sorted out soon! I'm glad to hear Gracie was full of spunk and energy today. They are such happy, entertaining little critters, aren't they?

Have a great evening!!!

Re: 1/15 Gracie PMPS 281 +3 238

I know not too many of you are still on. Gracie is coming down slowly....that's good...hope by tomorrow she is back in blues/greens. I think the whole Lev box was off. I noticed on Alex's SS that Jill got crystals in a lev pen at 38 days. I don't know what's up.

Today turned out to be a scary day. This morning, I called my mom and she couldn't talk to me....she was really out of it. Called my sister and she went over there and spent the day with mom. But mom was not coming around so DS called the nurse on staff. She got to looking into things and DM had been given a double dose of morphine for her pain. Plus hydrocodon. When they realized this, they called the ambulance because of possible respiratory issues from an overdose of morphine. The ER doc gave her a med that made her react to the morphine like she was withdrawing. He said she is definitely overdosed. They are running other tests just to make sure there is nothing else but so far...all is negative.

Evidently what happened was when she moved from SNF to ALF, the med orders got typed into the computer incorrectly. So tomorrow...my two DS's are going over there to "discuss" it with mgmt; they may call me to conference me in. In the meantime, they admitted DM to the hospital for observation until it all clears her system. My youngest DS is spending the night there with her. BP is normal, respirations normal, oxygen saturation normal.

So...sorry I haven't been on more this evening....talking to my DSs.

Marje that is horrible  :-x I am so glad you guys got it figured out though. Respiratory depression is bad news. They probably gave her naloxone (Narcan), that can be pretty uncomfortable for someone who is on chronic pain meds. But it sounds like it was necessary and she is doing OK now.

Glad Gracie is doing OK too :-D :YMHUG:

Re: 1/15 Gracie PMPS 281 +3 238

That IS really scarey Marje. In the normal scheme of things so many elderly people are on too many meds and to have something like this happen is just not okay. I hope whoever is dealing with this makes very sure to express their concern about how something like this could happen. The reality is that things like this do happen quite often because people are so busy and do not always check their work. I'm glad your mom has you all to watch out for her.

Sending lots of healing vines to your mom and some come on down lower vines to Gracie.

So sorry to hear about your mum and just when Gracie's coming good, there's never a dull moment for you. Hope mum is comfortable now.

(((Marje))) I am still the early bird and catching up on condos. So sorry to hear about your Mom, but thank God you happened to make that phone call to her in time to see her condition and that DS's are close by. That is so scary. Keep us posted on today's meeting. Lots of vines and prayers for your DM and you and family. Hugs.

(((((Marje))))), I am so sorry that happened to DM, so stressful for everyone. Gracie, how about coming down from that bounce? We are coming up on 2 months on our vial of lantus. Might be time to open the new one.
Liz
