Doodles 1/14 Doodles had a good day yesterday and so far this morning he's bright and chippy with a normal poop to start the day :) Today is a our 6th month anniversary being on Lantus. He has made significant progress especially with the neuropathy. I still say to him "look at you on your toes". The loss of his back legs was probably the worst thing we've every experienced. It's been 6 months but mind you we just started dosing correctly after joining FDMB on 10/11 and we're so thankful for everyone's help in getting us here.

Hope everyone has a good day and the kitties are all feeling good.

Nice start Doodles--so great to hear his progress--isn't it just crazy how we fall so in love with these little furry creatures…. when something is off it just messes us all up. Things are looking up:)

I say those same words to Snick all the time!!!! I love to watch her walk and jump. The only sign left from her neuropathy is the way she walks down the stairs. She still lopes like a bunny.

My only issue besides not know he was diabetic before neuropathy set in is my experience with the vets. They sent me home with a vile and needless, told us to bring him in once a week for 1 BG check, sent us home with an adjusted dose. They finally agreed that we should do tests before giving insulin every few days but not to become "one of those people how constantly poke their cat". Eventually they gave us a sliding scale for Lantus after months of zero progress and we all know here how much that helps:mad:

I wasn't smart enough to realize how wrong this all was until one day the "light bulb" went off and found FDMB, He did nothing but lay around from July-Oct, still could hardly walk that whole time. They also said "he probably won't recover from the neuropathy and no chance of remission".

Honestly I feel like suing them for malpractice. It should be illegal what they do.

Seeing how good his is now is what keeps us going and actually have many many great days with him again:joyful:

WOW what a journey you have had and how very sad for the people who will just accept the "advice" from that (and many other vets)
Doodles is very lucky to have a mom who questioned this …. great job! A mom always KNOWS!

Very glad that Doodles has you on his side! It is really scary that there are so may vets out there that give rather questionable (and, in some cases, downright dangerous) advice. Not knowing everything about diabetes is one thing, but telling a concerned client to not be an advocate for their cat is the part that really gets to me.

Maybe, just maybe, your vet will learn something from Doodles' journey and from how well he is doing these days! You show them, Doodles!

I told my acupuncture vet who is associated with the incompetent IM Vet that we don't need their help with FD - lol. She said, OK, just keep doing what every your doing. I have 10 refills on my Lantus prescription and have only used 2 of them. One day I'll be writing a letter at the very least to the Managing Directors of VCA Hospital...it will give me some satisfaction:joyful:

How about this super FLAT cycle again o_O
