I feel you! :(

I can't sleep very soundly at all worrying about Max, checking him in the middle of the night, etc. Crazy high numbers and starting a new higher dose. Ahh!

I've tried a lower carb/higher protein dry food, he gets Friskies Paté in the evening...not sure I want to switch to all canned yet; I might at some point. Just started him at 5 units Lantus...it's the only breakthrough in numbers I've seen so far.

Yeah I would do it cause I’m sure thatndry isn’t helping, maybe try young again or dr elseys if you HAVE to use dry, does he not like the friskies much? Just wonder why ur hesitant of taking away the Instinct

He loves the paté, but I'm often gone for 8 or more hours a day for work and will be worried if there is no kibble to nibble on. I like the added security of having food there especially if I'm running late getting home. Also, if Max somehow goes low one day while I'm away I'd like him to have some dry available to help him brings his numbers back up. If I was a stay-at-home cat mom this would be a lot less stressful, haha.

Yes it would!! I wish daily I could just be at home

Trust me...it's not any less stressful :p

I'm a work from home mom and you wouldn't believe how exhausting and stressful it is to jump up to a timer all day long when she's low - I know you worry when you're away at work and can't do all that testing - but believe me, it's no walk in the park to be at home all day either...lots and lots of work (real work and testing work)...

So as a suggestion for getting off the Instinct Dry - you may want to consider an automatic feeder - I've used one when we're just not going to be home - based on her numbers I put LC or MC into the feeder openings and set it up to spin hourly - that way she'll have food in case she needs. Some kitties need to get used to the noise - when it spins - Luci adapted quickly - and runs to it when it spins because there's a tasty snack there! Too bad it can't take a BG reading prior to dispensing the food - hopefully technology will catch up to our needs :)

You know what, I agree, I’m more stressed here than at work, timers, testing, jumping at everything, being a helicopter mom

Sometimes I think I could relax a bit if I went to my office...at least I could sit and focus on my work for a while without having a timer beeping (all the time!)...my day and these timers...

Ah well..gotta do what I gotta do...and be glad that I'm here trying to get work done while testing...talk about a juggling act!

Nice AMPS for Bella today!
I don't generally get up at night to test unless the +3 tells me I need to test again. But whenever I wake up, the first thing I do is check to see where Boomer is...beside me, end of bed, on the bench, or in his bed. If I can't see him, I listen for him in case he's eating. If I don't hear him, then I get up to check on him. More often than not it turns out he was laying in his bed and I just couldn't see him because he's mostly black lol

Same! I need to know where Max is at ALL times.

Just when we think they're doing "Great" they change the program & start going hi again :banghead: Ravan may be getting another increase soon.

All we can do is hang in there & see what THEY decide to do! No joke ,studies have been done. A scientist who studies vocal communication in mammals decided to investigate the manipulative meow.

"If you've ever wondered who's in control, you or your cat, a new study points to the obvious. It's your cat" " "We think that cats learn to dramatically exaggerate their cry when it proves effective in generating a response from humans."

Being home full time isn't any easier. They still do want they want to. If you have to run out even for an hour, that is the hour they will dive. Take it from one who knows. That is why I test immediately with keys in hand before walking out the door, many times I don't make it out.

So many times, the exact same thing has happened to me - I call it the 'take off shoes, put down purse' routine. It's like she's got a special sensor in her brain ' ah ha! Mama is trying to go SOMEWHERE!! Well we shall just see about that. Stomps her little foot and says 'sit down mama'...I need you...golden eyes gazing at me...:banghead:

I'm always crazy stressed at work because he's alone for 8+ hours with nobody to watch him. I tell ya, starting on this insulin journey without being home to test or check on him half the day has been nuts! Every time we did an increase I'd worry all day that he would go hypo and I wouldn't be there to rescue him.

I couldn't stand it anymore so a few days ago I got a home security camera on Amazon. I can stream live from my bedroom right to my phone through the app, it has a good clear picture, night vision, and you can even speak through it. I'm gonna keep the boys in my room (with food, litter, toys, etc) while I work so I can check in on them anytime I like, especially at Lantus peak times. I only live about ten minutes away, so hopefully if I see anything happening I can get home quick enough to help.
