I thought I'd drop in and open up a condo for Spot today. It's been a while since I posted for him. Spot is doing very well. He gave me a nice amps today....even after he yacked up a small hairball right before his testing time. There are no complaints here. His numbers have been good...some a tad higher than I would like, but I am thinking that the new food I have been giving him since his dx of CKD, the beginning stages, are a bit higher in carbs than he is used to.
I have been giving him a variety of food....Merrick Cowboy Cookout (oh, he loves that), Merrick BG chicken and beef and Friskies Special diet turkey and giblets. Spot only got food that had 0-1% carbs and I believe the CC is something like 5. Spot is very carb sensitive!
He is also becoming a very big piggy! He seems to be satisfied during the day, but at night, he really wants to eat! He has his nini snack at 10 pm another snack at midnight and another at 3 am. Sometimes he just doesn't want to wait until the feeder opens and starts to bug me around 10:30 pm to open up his feeder so he can eat his midnight snack. I usually get up around 11:30 so he will stop bugging me and I can go to sleep. 5:30 am comes awfully early these days!!
Spot will be going in for his dental next week. I'm excited to see the blood tests. When he was first dx'd his bun and creatin levels were just over the high mark. I changed his diet and two weeks later, this creatin was within normal range and BUN was only one point higher than the normal range. Phosphorus levels were normal. So I am hoping that things will be ok, with just the change of food.
Spot just got done with his bath and is now trying to take a nap. I called off of work today with this stupid cough/cold and am now drinking a cup of green tea w/ginger slices and honey. After that is done, I will do a shot of whiskey, honey, and lemon and head back to bed myself. I am hoping to sweat this thing out of me today....Had this cough since December 27th and am getting mighty tired of it.
Hope everyone in Lantus Land has a wonderful day! I'll be stopping back in later to check on everyone else...after the sleep and the sweat!
