It was one year ago this day that Mikan was diagnosed.
Still struggling to manage her BG - but good start at the one year mark this morning :cool:

I was reflecting the past year - struggled to do the testing, mood swings with the ups and downs of her BG, panicking to manage the lows, figuring out the foods. But most of all, I couldn't have done it without people here in this forum. Kind words and support, sharing of information, joking around and laughing together, and priceless guidance.

Thank you all. I am eternally grateful.

Today we begin our 2nd year of FD journey. I hope we will achieve better management.
Oh, Mikan, let's not do your trampoline jump and scuba diving! :rolleyes:

Good morning, Kit. I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s not a fun place to need to be, but this has been such a wonderful community of support and caring and helping each other along. Sharing ideas and strategies and finding solutions together. It really helps each day to know we are not alone and someone cares. And we care for each other.

You’re an amazing Mom to Mikan and all your cats. They are so lucky to have you caring and putting the work in for better health. I hope we can achieve better management for our sweet cats as we move forward. I’m thankful you are here, my friend. :bighug::bighug:

I'm keeping a close eye just to make sure that she isn't going to scuba dive :smuggrin:

It's been so cold that I got this electric throw blanket.
I swear, this totally corrupts us! It's so nice and warm that I never want to get out of it :p:p:p

It's lovely to see Mikan not only starting with blue but continuing to greens.
I've known you only in the past few months and I've always been inspired by your care, good sense of humour and no BS attitude in doing whatever's needed for Mikan. It's a delight to be a part of your journey.

This E throw blanket is best ever. I wish they make a onesie out of this - I would never wear anything else :p
Mikan's edging down but hopefully I can keep her afloat. Now that she passed a year mark and now officially is a veteran, we can live with 40s (although I'll try my best to keep her above 50).
Go into your closet and get that thing. Let's get corrupted together! :p

I just bought one for my mom because she gets super cold and it messes with her fibromyalgia.

It's hard to believe that it's been a year!
I had a high hope for her to do better, but oh well, we keep going!
I can maintain this positive attitude because of the friends like you, always cheering me on. :)

Time flies doesn't it? That being said I think the first year is the worst and the hardest. We go through highs and lows and everything in between, anxiety, fear and then finally happiness when we start to see our hard work paying off. And if you have to be on this journey, there's no better place than this forum with these beautiful people. We're happy you're a part of our community and you're not just helping Mikan but also others. Both you and Mikan have been doing wonderful job. And thank you for being our friend and supporter.

Beautiful cycle so far. Go sweet girl. The beach is a wonderful place.

Kit I'll never forget Milkan's Anniversary, sadly today was 7 months since my daughter Ashley passed on 6-15-23.
I see Mikan is already coming down @+2. I hope she surfs safely tonight.

It has been 7 months, hasn't it. I'm sorry. I know how much you miss her - sending you :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Name Mikan - I had a friend whose dog was named Mikan some years ago and I thought it was really cute. I liked the sound of it and I decided to name my next cat Mikan.
It should have been someone orange (Mikan = orange) but oh well, I thought, close enough :p
I call her Mikan-Mie and she looks up like "yeah, mom?" Oh so sweet :kiss:

I'll call Tyler Boo Boo , or Boo Boo See , don't ask me why because I couldn't tell you :p He does answer to those names though :p
I used to call his brother Perry who passed Lil Pear :p.
I guess we are all crazy cat moms :p

So Cute, Diane, Boo Boo! We all have a pet name (haha, yes) for our kitties ;)
I once had a boy cat Jupiter, but never really called him that - He was Jupe or Jupie. :p
I also call Mikan, Mimi as well. She knows her name and responds to all of those :kiss:
The funny thing, I think, is that once we name them, we can't think of any other names that would fit them better. :joyful::joyful::joyful:
