Luci is home and feeling fine! She's eating well and back to ruling the household with an iron paw...

Her numbers are surprisingly low considering she only got .5 u of insulin every morning only for three days while she was hospitalized for her I-131 treatment @Judy and Boomer - I'm sorry I didn't answer your question completely - Luci was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about a month or two ago and we tried the cream on the inner ear and her BG numbers were just so all over the place I felt that it was not a good solution - so we've gone on with the I-131 in hopes of more stability with the numbers.

Fingers and paws crossed it was the right decision - many people have reported positive results.

There does seem to be an odd glow in here now...let's hope it'll fade quickly! We just have to take some special precautions for about two weeks and hope that our teeth don't fall out, etc.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughtful prayers and comments :bighug: Luci and I are very appreciative of all your vines and well wishes!

Have a lovely evening everyone!

Yay, what wonderful news to hear Luci is home! I hope the I-131 does the trick and Luci's BG flattens out :bighug: and you made the right decision with the information you had :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Happy to hear that Luci is feeling good!
I'm late to the game I know. What the heck is an I-131 treatment?

Here's a short blurb about what it is:
Radioactive iodine (I-131), an isotope of iodine that emits radiation, is used for medical purposes. When a small dose of I-131 is swallowed, it is absorbed into the bloodstream in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and concentrated from the blood by the thyroid gland, where it begins destroying the gland's cells.

She was given an injection since she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism recently. The goal is to shrink the overgrowth of thyroid tissue or tumor - in hopes that her thyroid levels will come down. She was losing too much weight although she was eating well. She was also lethargic and just not acting herself. I took her to the vet and he did bloodwork and that was the result....

I hope this was the right path to take for Luci.
