Trix looks to be feeling pretty good today...I don't think she's back to 100%, but she's definitely WAY better that a few days ago, and probably better than yesterday as well. Her appy is pretty good...it waivers between "OK" and "happy", so all things considered, not bad at all. I'm still supplementing with some syringe feedings, just be sure does get the calories and nutrition she needs. Fortunately she does not object to assist-feeding all that much.

Interestingly, another trick that she seems to like is if I squirt a little bit of the pureed syringe fuds on top of her non-pureed fuds. I guess it's like a custom-gravy to her or something? BUT, she won't eat the pureed food straight up off a plate - the pureed stuff either has to go in via syringe, or on top of non-pureed fuds. Funny girl.

And I know the rest of the world would think we're crazy for analyzing what food textures our kitties are more willing to eat! I guess that's also why cats like our L&LL kitties thrive despite having health issues, while other kitties whose beans aren't so attentive fail :(.

Anyway, it is great to see Trix's bright eyes again. She went through her usual morning routine, which is good to see. She is feeling pretty spunky - she was looking for adventure a bit this morning, and she was waiting outside the laundry room door as I prepped her second breffis. But, I do think she has a slight aversion to her fuds resulting from this past weekend...not a bad one, but a slight one. We're also kind of stuck at this point, though...Fancy Feast and Purina One aren't good for her kidneys, but the are the only fuds she would REALLY eat before all the crap hit last weekend. I'm afraid any other foods she'd willingly eat would just be way too high in carbs for her, and having to add insulin back into the mix at this point would probably send me over the edge. I'm sure she'd be thrilled if I put a bowl of kibbles in front of her...but obviously we can't go down that road.

It is time for another round of fuds....I have to work today, so I need to maximize what she eats between now and 10:00 without overdoing.

We had a bit of a fiasco with trying to get the B12 going in her SubQs last night...if anyone who hasn't taken a look has any idea, check out yesterday's condo. It's no biggie...just looking for suggestions that would work with the IV set up we have.

Thank you for all the support and prayers, my L&LL family. Once again, you carried us through...have a great day, everyone!

Amy

Great to hear that Trixie is feeling much better! You are such a great bean. You are right about food textures and non-cat people. But that is why we all have eachother. ((((AMY))))

I bet this was a minor panc attack and all will return to normal quickly. Good luck with the food. That is a tough one.

Morning Amy :coffee::coffee::coffee:

YAY! It is great to read that Trixie is feeling better. :joyful: Good luck with the fuds thing too. That one is tough... went through that with Mannie when he got sick. The only thing he would eat were the gravy foods. That made it tough. We dealt with the textures ting too.

Nice amps for trixie too!

Have a great day Amy. I hope all goes well at TBP. It is so so nice that Trixie is doing better.

I'm so glad Trixie is feeling better this morning. I hope she continues to get better. Sending prayers and hugs. :bighug::bighug:

Amy, have you tried offering her any of the fuds that she liked before the first panc attack? Maybe after this one, she will like them again? Just a thought....

So happy to hear how well she is doing. How are your civvies today?

Glad to hea that Trixie is feeling spunky again. have you tried Solid Gold Chicken? It does have some fish in it, but both carbs and Phos are good. The big box stores don't carry it, but smaller ones do.

Went home to check on her...she seemed a bit sleepy, but it s the middle of the day, right? She ate quite well - probably about a syringe and a half on her own - no actual syringing.

I can't go back to her original foods from last year's attack - Paw Lickn' Chicken is too low in calories, and I'm avoiding fish as much as possible so the BFF fuds are out, too. I am pretty sure we tried Solid Gold, but I can't completely remember. We did try a lot of LC/Lo Phos fuds, and she just didn't like any of them. And, her bean doesn't like Wellness - been down that road many times and always ended up with one issue or another. (Her vet doesn't like Wellness, eiither - she sees a lot of cats on Wellness with health issues, and she cannot get anyone from the company to discuss the products with her.) She hates EVO...couldn't convince her to eat that before she had any issues, couldn't convince her to eat it when it was buried under good stuff, either - she wouldn't even eat the good stuff off the top of EVO was underneath it :joyful::joyful::joyful:!!

The civvies seem fine. Hopefully yesterday's barfing was just an odd anomaly for both of them. Thanks for asking, Tricia!

Back to work...

Amy, have you tried any of the Dave's foods? I found it at smaller stores, too, by the can, and you can order cases at Chewy.com. My cats really like it. Ann feeds Tess the 95% chicken. My cats were so-so on that flavor, but they prefer their chicken with something else added - like fish .

I have not tried Dave's. I'll check my local Ma & Pop pet fuds store for that one....they are high-end and have a lot of "different" stuff. I'd rather not start with a case since Trix is a bit unpredictable in what she likes. It would definitely be nice to have something better for her - if she'll actually eat it! hope they have it locally.

I felt the same way. I was happy to find a store that sold it by the can, but they didn't have the 95% chicken. Ann sweetly delivered a few cans to me when she came up this way. I was so disappointed that my kitties' reactions were luke warm, but Trixie might like it. It does have liver in it, but my kitties are like their mamabean - no liver (ick!)!

I don't know Trix's thoughts on liver - I don't know if any of the fuds we've tried contained liver. MamaBean doesn't eat any meat, so you know her thoughts on it! Hopefully I can find it locally....

I am once again saying this very cautiously and with a boatload of anti-jinxes, and it is early yet....but so far, this evening has been as normal as it gets around here. Greeted at the door. Waiting for din-dins. Snuggles, Hanging out by the heating vent. She hasn't eaten a whole lot yet, but she often is a slow-starter, plus since she's easy to assist-feed, that doesn't worry me too much yet...basically, what she's eaten so far is pretty typical for her first round.

These very nice numbers are making me wonder if she's had some sort of low-grade infection running for a while that the AB is now working on. Unfortunately, though, I think all of this will always be a part of the mystery that is Trixie....

Time to prep the dreaded gelcap...more anti-jinxes!!

Funny girl.

We all have our little food quirks, don't we!? :woot:

glad to hear she's feeling pretty perky tonight! wahoo!

WooHoo - Go Trixie!!! (said in tiny one inch voice so as not to undo the anti-jinx!) :joyful::joyful::joyful: Sending tons more healing and comfort vines, with a boatload more for smooth gelcapping!!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

It would be interesting to know if the AB's are killing off bacteria that was causing her higher BG numbers. This might go along the lines of bacteria actually causing pancreatitis in the first place- inflammation in the gut and all that. All I can say is thank goodness she is feeling better and eating!!

Yay for a good Trixie report! I have tried all the foods you have mentioned with the same result -- Simon doesn't like them! He will eat Wellness at times, but now I am wondering if I should even give it to him. What is it about Wellness that is causing problems? I guess I have just been out of the loop.

Hope Trixie continues to have a good evening. Hugs!
