Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, but I am so depressed about my kitty, Cleo. As many of you know, Cleo had surgery on Dec. 24th to remove her very enlarged spleen. She also has CKD. Her recovery seemed to be going pretty well and she was eating on her own. Over the last few days, her appetite is gone and she isn't eating anything on her own. i started syringe feeding her 2 days ago. She has also not been able to have any bowel movements and urine output is lower, although vet does not believe it is a UTI. Brought her to the vet on Friday and she was given a laxative that should have worked almost immediately (same kind of stuff we get for a colonoscopy). No luck -- not even one little poop. She is also is on Cerenia, Ondansetron and prilosec. She obviously has some nausea because she will go to her dish and then walk away. the Cerenia has worked before, but not now. She is also on Buprenex for any pain she may be experiencing. She had a touch of pancreatitis in the past, so we think there is a possibility there is a flare up due to the surgery.

I am calling the vet this morning and may have to bring her in for an enema to see if that may help. Also, he mentioned prednisone and I am willing to give it a try. She is hiding under the bed alot and just is not well. I am very scared for her.

Simon is worried too -- right now he is lying next to her, keeping her warm.

Morning Georgia - I am so sorry to read this. Mega healing vines, feel good vines for Cleo. I hope the vet will be able to help her today. I will be thinking of you guys today. It is wodnerful what Simon is watching over her. Hugs to all there.

I am so sorry to hear about Cleo sending lots of healing vines, snowflakes and prayers that she is better soon (((((hugs)))) and hope Simon comes down slowly to the blue floor today so nice he is keeping Cleo warm cat_pet_icon

Morning Georgia, so sorry to hear Cleo had a setback. Sending many healing vines and prayers. What did the Vet give Cleo for her constipation? Cleo is hiding as she senses something is going on. Keep us posted on her, so soory. Lots of hugs.

(((Georgia)) I'm so sorry about Cleo, hopefully this is just a minor setback and she gets back on track in her recovery.

Michelle, thanks so much for thinking of us today and yes, it is wonderful that Cleo has her big brother Simon to watch over her.

Lisa, it looks like we are going through similar things right now. I hope DoLou also responds to treatment and is back to normal very soon.

Marggie, the vet gave her the same thing as adults called GoLightly (I think). of course, it was a very small amount. It was supposed to work very quickly over night but it didn't even do anything for poor Cleo.

Bruce, I really hope this is just a minor set back. Thanks for all your thoughts and healing vines.

I'm assuming the vet checked to make sure she doesn't have an infection.

I'm saying prayers for Cleo to feel better. I hope your vet can get just the right meds and this clears up quickly. It's so very sweet that Simon is snuggling up to make her feel better. I'm sure she likes that. Many hugs and prayers for you both. mary and ollie

awww .. poor cleo, poor simon .. poor momma! Keeping you guys in my thoughts that some meds from the vet will make cleo feel better in no time .. ((hugs)) hang in there!!

Georgia, we are so sorry to hear that Cleo is having problems. Sending lots of healing vines and prayers. Simon is such a nice brother to keep her warm and give her support. Feel better, Cleo!

So sorry to hear Cleo is having problems. Might well be an infection... does she have a fever? Let us know what the vet says.. sending healing vines...

Sending Strongest Healing Prayers for Cleo!! Know how you feel & Hope that Sweet Cleo will pass some poo--You know I am strugling with this everyday with Moonie..Also sometimes pain meds can be constipating..
I am sure the enema will help, it did help Moonie..Big Comfort Hugs & Love from us!!

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. I just got home from church and Cleo is still under the bed and didn't touch her food. My vet finally called me back. His office is closed today but I can bring her in at 5:00 to see the tech. She can give an enema and I'll start her on the pred. She doesn't have a fever and the vet said she didn't have an infection, although I'm still not convinced. I hope it is just the poo issue. Thanks again for all your thoughts.

Vines and snowflakes for poor Cleo. T he pain meds can definitely constipate. If the enema helps try Miralax to keep her from getting a repeat. It won't soften already hard stools, but it will keep future ones from getting too dry and hard to pass.

Prayers needed for Cleo

I'm posting on behalf of Georgia.....

Georgia is at the ER with Cleo. they are doing an enema but so far not much has come out...
bw has been done to see what is going on....her wbc is normal....and ER vet wants to hospitalize Cleo...Georgia has opted not to leave her there if all they will do is iv fluids when she can do the subq fluids at home....yes i know it's not the same but Cleo is incredibly stressed and Georgia is very upset to leave her there....

Cleo appears to be jaundice and i guess Georgia will have to syringe feed her all her meals going forward until a re-check can be done.....for the e-tube is not an option

please send all healing vines, prayers, etc that we can say for both of them....they need them....

you know your girl best and i know you will make the right decision taking her best interest as paramount...i know you are worried but if it is fatty liver, it can be reversed.....hang in there.....

Healing thoughts coming your way for Cleo. I hope the enema today was helpful and she's able to eat some food now. Poor little dear. Lots and lots of prayers being sent......
 
((((Georgia))))). I just saw this and I'm so sorry Cleo is so sick. I hope they can find the answer and get her back on the road to recovery so you can have your beautiful girl back home soon. Sending many, many prayers, white light, snowflakes, and healing vines for Cleo.
