Julie- We always feed Fancy Feast Classic. I'm not sure how to approach the insulin issue. We had asked the vet if it was repackaged and she said no. Either they're lying or they don't know enough about Lantus to know the difference. I can't see them lying or hiding it on purpose. It's a horrible shock regardless. How can Wedgewood get away with distributing it like this? It comes in a sealed vial so I think the only thing the vet has to do with it is distributing it. I'm not positive. I'm curious as to how Ozgood will do with original Lantus. I shutter to think maybe he could have been regulated months ago if this is poor quality insulin. That would sure be a nice surprise if he mellows out when he gets on Lantus that hasn't been repackaged.

Ozgood was around 500 at PMPS last night and again at PM +8 (4:30 this morning). He was down to 178 at 5:30 tonight. We started a new vial of Lantus this morning- still the Wedgewood stuff.

Good question. I don't know how to approach it either, but if i were in your shoes, i would definitely say something. Perhaps printing out the page from the Lantus manufacturers at www.lantus.com that tells how Lantus is sold in 10ml vials or Solostar pens only. I think i'd show them the spreadsheet with that last section after you started a new vial and how it looks like the Lantus wasn't effective. I'd tell them I want to buy Lantus from a local pharmacy instead of through Wedgewood Pharmacy.

It's worth remembering that you are hiring the vet and it's your money. That last vial wasted $80 of your money - and this is an expensive disease - who has $80 to waste?!? In fact it looks like both the vials from 11/25 and 12/19 were no good. I've had vials last me for many months, so it's unthinkable that it's gone bad after just a month or two.

They work for you and it's more than reasonable for you to be able to get effective, legal insulin when you are paying for it.

i might even write a letter to the Lantus manufacturers and complain about Wedgewood Pharmacy repackaging their insulin and it being not good. Let them take on the battle for you.

hahaha i'm really annoyed on your behalf and could really get into a rant about this.:rolleyes::smuggrin:
