Maggie had once again tried to tunnel her way out of the laundry room.
My vet was off this week, but I got her to give me ondansetron yesterday. Maggie goes in Monday for baseline blood work before starting benazepril. I will ask for cerenia also at that time because Marje says they work through different modalities.
I put this AM's ondansetron in a capsule and tucked it into a bit of butter on a plate. Maggie licked it right up, none the wiser. :D I predict this will work for a two days before she catches on and we have to go through the traumatic experience, for both of us, of pilling.
Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!

I don't know what preparation you have for ondansetron, but they have a rapid dissolve tab that if you could dab a bit of food on your finger and put that on top, if she will eat it, it should disappear quickly and I don't recall it having much of a taste. Until then, hope the butter trick works much longer than 2 days!

rapid dissolve tab
Interesting... I'll look into that, thanks!
I have tried hiding things in pill pockets and that seems to work for a day or two as well.
This used to work like a dream for us. She's never been much of a "chewer," choosing to swallow food whole, until the last year or so. Now she's a magician. She takes a soft treat, does a little sleight-of-mouth and swallows. Magically, the pill is on the floor. The only thing that could make the trick better is if she pulled the pill out of my ear and said, "Is this your pill?"

LOL! This is our civvie, Ben, as well! He has always taken his Pred in a little ball of food, and one day he just started this magic trick! I may have to try your butter trick, and see if it works. I've been pilling him for a couple of weeks (twice daily :arghh:). He's PRETTY good, but it's still a stressful thing to have to do.

Nice numbers today for Miss Maggie! :D

Just checking in....I’ve got out of town guests through Monday but wanted to see how Maggie is.

The cerenia tab can be bitter so I’d put it in the capsule with the ondansetron.

I hope it all works!
