Good morning.
Been up since 4:20 am. Libre sensor alarm did its job and alerted me to a problem. It “appeared” Ivy had a sudden very low drop of bg. Heart attack ensued.
Upon inspection, it appears her new tube top, which covers her Libre sensor area, dislodged the sensor. (I had a feeling the band on the top may be in a bad spot…)
I’ve said as a Libre user, you need to be prepared at a moment’s notice to spring into action and replace the sensor. By 5 am that was done. All before coffee or any hint of sunrise. Ugh.
To be sure of her actual bg at 4:45 am I checked 2 x on the Contour handheld meter and got 259, 263, which
were both in line with the BGs She was having overnight through the PM cycle.

Past 3 cycles have been pretty decent. Yesterday am cycle I had to feed some 9 & 12% in the 1st hour for fast drops. Seemed to help slow her down a bit. She had a very active cycle for about 5/6 hours.
Going out to dinner tonight and will add a bit of 9% in her meal and snacks for the first 3 hours to help keep her from dropping too low while I’m out. Hoping the 9% does the trick. (Will decide when I feed dinner in hopes I can guess what her cycle will do).
She seems to have the knack to know when I’m going out for an evening and likes to drop lower while I’m out. Gives me complete anxiety every single time. We comment every time that she just knows.
The Libre alarm goes off an alert while I’m out. Luckily most restaurants are so loud no one even hears the alarm.
Have a good weekend everyone and Safe surfing kitties :cat:

Good WOW morning, Staci!
That's so impressive, to figure out what was going on, identify the problem, address the problem, and change the sensor - all BEFORE :coffee::coffee::coffee:
You are a superwoman!

Enjoy the outing this evening!;)
You have a good plan and highly unlikely Ivy gets down to the hypo range.
But moms are by nature worriers.
Hope it will be an alarm-less evening.

Happy Saturday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

lol. Thanks Kit. It was “a morning”. Never had that exact scenario happen before. Lucky for the alarm or I’d have no clue. But in reality, she wasn’t low. Whew!!
Hoping the rest of the day and night are much more boring!!
I hope you and Mikan have a boring and relaxing day :bighug::kiss::bighug:

Good meowning Staci and Ivy

Sorry to hear you had such a scary wake up call but glad it was just the alarm and that she wasn't super low. You deserve a star for dealing with all this at that hour and in such beautiful manner. Ivy is so lucky to have you.
Hopefully the rest of the day goes well and you can enjoy your outing while she's safe at home.
Have a good and "boring" weekend.

Wow what a morning! So glad Ivy has such a smart mom. Hope your day goes smoothe and you get to enjoy your evening, which you so deserve after such a morning!

Thanks everyone for your very kind words.

I’m sure you all would do the same for your babies! We all move mountains for each of them. It was the time of day that was not so much fun and to get my brain to get in gear was the challenge. :banghead:
I’m glad I did the switch, because as it turned out, she’s having a very active cycle, so I am able to closely monitor what’s happening. WHEW.
Been feeding her small snacks each hour at this point just gave her a 6% half a teaspoon just to keep her surfing along. It looks like she’s just starting to come up now at +5.
I hope no funny stuff tonight!
Stay warm and safe and hope everybody’s having a safe surf! :bighug:

Staci, you are a hero and a cat's best friend!! Good for you for springing into action. I hope you can enjoy a nice evening out, followed by a little more sleep than usual to make up for today's early start. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you, Karen. That’s so sweet. She’s my baby girl and I would do anything for her. I think we all feel that way though.
I hope you and Chispa have a wonderful weekend :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Afternoon Staci, that sure was a scary morning you had, but you jumped into action!
I'm glad Ivy came up. Try and enjoy your night out, but I know we all still worry when we are out. Stay safe sweet Ivy, maybe momma will bring you home some left overs :p:bighug::bighug:

Hi Diane, what a day. My adrenaline started pumping early! Way too early. Glad it ended up ok. Whew. ;)
Hope you’re having a good day. If Ivy ate leftovers I would. She turns her nose up at any thing other than her own food. Silly cat.:joyful:
Enjoy your evening :bighug::bighug:

Tiger loves bacon. His sister did too. I don’t know where they got that from! He thinks every time we eat it’s bacon and begs. Whenever we would offer him any other protein, he would sniff it and walk away dejected. When we do have bacon, I give him the tiniest bite that I don’t even know how he tastes it, but makes him happy!

Hi Staci :)
I'm sorry you had such a startle to your morning. Ivy sure knows how to keep you on your feet.
Ivy knows her protector will be right by her side! What an amazing skill you've developed with the sensor.
I hope she keeps safe while you're away so you can enjoy a dinner out :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Shelly, it was crazy bananas! What a way to start my day. I probably scared the $&&& out of Ivy I was like a tornado to get it all done and fast. I had an hour before Amps!!
She’s a tricky girl for sure!
Hope you had a good day. Hope you have a good sleep!! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

That’s so cute, Deb. They both like the bacon. Interesting.

Ivy eats no table scraps. Never has. Well except tuna juice. She does like that. I rarely ever give it to her. But she will lap it up. :joyful:
