Hi guys .. I don't think we've been in thumpers condo before .. I'm pretty sure we all wish our kitties would stop bouncing .. but at least she is doing better today, right? Have a great day!

I was hopefull she was headed in the right direction this morning. What happened??

Ugh...I thought she would stop all this bouncing on Lantus. You guys aren't giving me much hope! :smile:

I was thinking I was gonna work on her profile tonight but I read those directions & it looks like more than I might be able to tackle tonight. I just got home and I've gotta do fluids tonight also for my civvie. Why do the days at work drag & the evening & weekend fly by!

With meter variance, there is really no difference between 325 and 341. Meters can vary up to 20%...even the same meter...from reading to reading. So she looks pretty flat.

Bouncing is caused by the liver sensing lower numbers than it is used to and releasing counterregulatory hormones and glucagon which drive the BG up. I'm sure someone has probably let you know that bouncing can last up to six cycles (72 hours). Some cats less...some cats possibly longer. ECID.

No, they don't all stop the bouncing on lantus or levemir. Our hope is that they will and they will flatten out and usually they do but some do not. You might want to check out different condos and SSs when you feel like it and you'll see we have a lot of bouncy kitties in LL.

J.D. and Thumper have the same PMPS number.
I hope they both clear their bounces, soon.
 
Binks bounced for a certain amount of time, then all of a sudden his liver got with the program,
and no more bouncing! May that be the case for Thumper, as well... :-D

This made me smile, you don't know how many times Sue says this over on PZI! I'm just hard headed, I know it but when I see the number I just forget. :smile:

I can't really complain too much, she's feeling better than she has in months. I don't think it was entirely the PZI. She was finally diagnosed with pancreatitis the weekend before we went on Lantus (I had already planned to switch). I think it was brewing for a long time. I just couldn't get my old vet to pay attention & the only time I finally got them to do the fPL test she was negative.
 
Actually, once you factor in meter variance, there's no difference between your AMPS and the +6.

The bounces are no fun. On the other hand, you know that Thumper's liver is working just fine!
