Hello All,

Just heard about Little Kitten... She has "Mast cell tumor". Vet said it's far more common in dogs (Just my luck). Was consulting w/ an oncologist for prognosis and treatment options. She is getting back to me.

Anyone with experience with this? Any input is appreciated!

FYI...Slashy seems fine thus far.

Hi guys .. sorry to hear about the diagnosis .. I have not had any experience with that, hopefully someone on here does .. glad to hear that slashy is doing good .. have a good day guys!

Hi there. I don't have experience with the mast cell tumors, although I've had experience with 3 other types of feline cancers. So I did a little research and it sounds like the prognosis in cats is pretty good - I read that 90% of these mast cell tumors are benign in cats and the usual treatment is to remove them. The pathologist can then grade the tumor to determine if it needs additional treatment. There is also a new chemotherapy ointment called lomustine which is being used to treat mast cell tumors on the skin.

If you change your Subject line to reflect that you want info on mast cell tumor, folks who are knowledgeable in that area will jump in. I also agree that posting on Health will get you more responses.

Thank you.. she is not presenting on her skin at all, thankfully. I have been reading the same thing. Disappointing in that they could have removed it when doing the exploratory, had they known.

Good for you! Hope it stays that way. We lost another one, our beloved Miss Silly to a nasty tumor over the summer :sad: Miss her.

Also sending positive thoughts your way for Little Kitten. I hope all goes well - it sounds like it is treatable. I have never dealt with this type, and just have no advice or info. Good luck!
