Another dip into the 200s today... I've got enough data to evaluate the R dose better. So far with 2.5 U he's had the following +4 readings: 154 (along with a big slide down, so I'm not counting it), 131 (clearing a big bounce after the big dip, so again, not counting it), 37, 55, 111, 107. With most of them he's gone a bit lower by +6. What do you think? I'm inclined to stick with it or maybe take it back down to 2.25 U. And I'll keep the Lantus at 7 until at least tomorrow morning.
 
Also, I finally had a chance to call the dental specialist and we have an appointment tentatively scheduled for Jan 26. My semester starts about two weeks after that, so hopefully that'll be plenty of time to deal with whatever short or long term effects there are on his BG before I'm distracted by classes.
 
Fantastic news on the dental specialist! When Neko went to hers, she had the consult in the AM and the dental at noon same day. Two weeks should be plenty of time to sort out issues. If extractions, you might actually see numbers go up for a week until inflammation goes down. ECID of course.

Your logic on the R dose sounds good.
 
Yep, that's the plan- consult at 9:30 and immediate dental if he's ok for it. Guess I'll bring something to do in the car... it's about an hour and a half away, so I'm not going home while I wait. (I felt a little bad... when I called the person who answered said they had already closed and she was one of the vets. I said I could just call back tomorrow but she very nicely took my info and penciled me in for the appointment. The receptionist will call back tomorrow to confirm and go over all the details.)
 
I was lucky, the vet dentist is across the street from an amazing Italian foods supermarket, I found lots to do. :p Of course, that was pre COVID. They also have to wait for anaesthesia to wear off, so it could be a wait. We'll have lots of tips for you the day or so before, including stocking up on all meat babyfood in case he has extractions. It's easy to eat.
 
I just checked the map and amusingly, there's an Italian market just a couple of blocks away. Also Target and a bunch of other restaurants, shopping, etc. So I'll be able to grab lunch, at least, though I suspect I won't want to spent a lot of time anywhere but the car. (Brr.) Ugh, I hope the weather cooperates.
