Hi Gang. I have to get a picture of Maverick waiting on the living room coffee table looking at me for food. It was too dark to take a picture this morning though. Just looks so sweet.

I'm noting on his spread sheet that as of Yesterday at 3pm I have just fed him Special Kitty Ocean whitefish and Tuna. He's getting bored of Turkey and Giblet and this is another food he will eat. He'll get bored of this and we'll go back to T&G. Not sure if the whitefish food will affect his BG differently.

Happy Wednesday.

Re: 1/12 Maverick AMPS 102

usually the fish foods are low in carbs but you might not want to feed it to him everyday, they say the fishy flavours aren't good for kitties in big doses due to ash. Just something to think about.

I'd love to see a pic of Maverick and his "feed me" face. I'm sure it's adorable

Re: 1/12 Maverick AMPS 102 - bad feed me pick

I can't figure out this camera so the flash will go on. I did my best to get the feed me look but this is the best picture I could take:

Maverick_21.jpg

He has a rubbermaid step stool, leading up to an ikea ottoman (that needs to be vacuumed) up to a glass coffee table with a carpet runner taped on top so he could comfortably sit. And his raised homemade wooden feeding station. He has very bad arthritis in his hind end, so this was the only way to keep the dog out of his food. We built a third set of baby stairs but the dog just bounds up these. She's smaller than him, but more mobile. She won't jump off the hardwood though.

Love the photo! I know that face.... And of course with a face like that he gets fed, right? Very cute -

You had better go and feed that kitty. :-D Have a nice night - and thanks Karrie for the visits to Mannie's condo today - and for watching over us!

Re: 1/12 Maverick AMPS 102 - bad feed me pick

What a cute feed me face and eyes … they know how to get what they want .. don’t they? :-D

Nice numbers too..

Re: 1/12 Maverick PMPS 79 - bad feed me pick

It really is hard not to feed him. He just sits and looks. No complaining - he talks with his eyes.

I think I might have messed up not testing him enough today. I'm getting kind of slack on it. His ears are really red under the light so I'm trying to give them a break. His nadir might have changed. Should I do a curve tonight or should I do a daytime curve. He tends to eat more at night but this is leveling off also. I'll watch him tonight to make sure he stays surfing. He only ate 2.5oz of Ocean Fish and tuna over the day.

I didn't know this about the fish foods ohmygod_smile Just loaded up on them too. I gave him Turkey and Giblet (coated in turkey dust) tonight. I'm starting to track what I feed him to see if it affects his numbers any.

Thanks for your help and comments guys.

Re: 1/12 Maverick PMPS 79 - bad feed me pick

Hi Karrie,
Such a cute picture of Maverick! How can you resist that look?
I've heard that many kitties are more active at night and therefore tend to go lower than in the daytime. But ECID. If Maverick eats more at night, it may be an indication that he is one of the nighttime active ones.
Oh, the search for the perfect food is never-ending!!

Have a good evening,
Ella & Rusty

Re: 1/12 Maverick PMPS 79 - bad feed me pick

Oh my gosh -- that is the cutest picture. And don't say you are sorry that the ottomon needs to be vacuumed -- remember, you are talking to a bunch of people that have cat hair everywhere! It doesn't matter how often I clean, the cat hair does not disappear.

Re: 1/12 Maverick PMPS 79 - bad feed me pick

The pledge fabric sweeper is my new best friend!!! Not sure how it works for short haired cats though. It is amazing on Maverick's hair.

Re: 1/12 Maverick PMPS 79 +3 60

He's eating really well. From PMPS to +3 he ate 2oz of turkey and giblets. Just put some chicken dust on his food at the +3 reading and he ate a half ounce.

I'll test again in 1/2 hour. I expect he will surf this number for a few hours and then rise.

You guys are sweet thank you.

Well I thought it was odd that he had eaten so much in three hours. Tested at 3.5 (63) and he ate a bit more, so 2 ounces in 3 hours. At +4.5 I went to test him and came out to a big pile of puke. He urped up most of it, it seems. I think last time he hit a lowish number he also did a scarf and barf. He never ever eats like this. So they were both out of the ordinary.

Nice green surf tonight, Maverick!

OMG, Karrie! How do you ever say anything but yes to that sweet face!?!?!?

Looks like I'm not the only one up for awhile tonight! :)

Another concern about fish flavored foods:

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are flame-retardant industrial chemicals. PBDEs are found in particularly high concentrations in fish that are high up the food chain and, therefore, in sea food flavor cat foods. Could be linked to feline hyperthyroidism.

I try to stick with chicken, turkey or beef varieties.
