She doesn't feel good today. She is eating but her appetite is not as good as before. She is cleaning herself, puring but she looks lethargic and it is obvious that she has a problem :(
I caught her pawing her face couple of times.Maybe she has a problem with her teeth :(
I hope this is not the sign of dka again :( yesterday she vomited water...I wasn't there when she was vomiting I found it after she did, but I am thinking maybe that was because she was trying to take out the fur, I am not sure....

The insulin is not taking her under 200s :( she is fixed between 200s and 300s :( the numbers are not much different between the 2iu cycles till 2.75iu cycles :( Can't wait to see her under 200s, I can't understand why the insulin is just not giving her a nice nadir....

What is the difference between levemir and lantus, I mean has anyone having the same problems like me changed to levemir and had success with it?

Do you have Ketostix to test Tilfil's urine for ketones? That is the best way to know if ketones are present.

The pharmacology of Lantus and Lev is a bit different. However, both are long-acting types of insulin and dosing is handled the same way. The biggest practical difference between the two types of insulin is that with Lev, the nadir is later in the cycle.

Just an observation -- Tifil's overall range in BG numbers has come down from pink to yellow.

My ketostix are finished I have to buy one tomorow.
Tıfıl's nadirs are late I guess so Levemir would not do anything good.
Tıfıl's numbers are better you are right, but we miss the color blue :(

Isil, when you say your ketostix are "finished", do you mean you used them all, or they are past the "must use by 6 months of opening"? If they're just over 6 months, I would try to get a test today. Check for dehydration, and give her extra water in her food. Maybe, make her food extra special tonight with what she likes best..warmed, extra toppings, favorite flavor, bit of tuna on top, etc..

I think you'll see blues, soon. It's a patience game, sometimes.

when punkin's mouth got infected after his dental extractions, the most obvious signs were that 1) he moved his face away if i tried to scratch his jaw, and 2) when he went to clean his face, his paw swung in the air next to his jaw on that side, but never touched his fur.

have you tried sprinkling oregano on his food? it's related to catnip and a lot of cats like it.

Actually I gave tuna and she finished it all. I am also giving her spirulina for its wide range of minerals and vitamins (including electrolytes).

Julie, tıfıl lets me touch her jaw, and she also wipes it with her paws..

Dyana, the ketostixs are finished :( my friend gave it to me (a diabetic friend) and the box was not full. there were only 13 ketostixs inside, and I used them..but I ordered it from internet today, I guess they will come to me by Tuesday (it's Sunday here :)

I have another box but it has expired on 2008 :mrgreen: I don't think it will work :)

Does your friend live nearby? I'm not saying you have to worry, but maybe you could borrow another strip or two.

Those are some real flat numbers there.

I pulled tıfıl's scin to see if comes back quickly to understand if she is dehydrated, it came back quickly.
Can it be that she is ill? Should I test her body temperature?

2 days ago she slept on a cold place at the balcony, although my balcony is closed with glass it is really cold. I placed electrical heater under her but she changed her place and wanted to sleep on the swing at the balcony, can it be that she got cold or something?

Is she still acting lethargic? I'm glad she ate up all that tuna, that's a good sign.

Yes she is still lethargic. She only wakes up for food and sleeps again. But when I pet her she starts to pur. Maybe she is lethargic becuase of the high BG levels, I don't know. Somethings going on that's for sure :(

When she was pink and her numbers were all over the place, she was acting hungry alot? and waking you up in the morning for food, and now she's not, right? I hope she's fine. Watch her when she uses the litter box and see if she's straining.
If you really feel that something is not right still, tomorrow, then maybe she needs to be seen by a vet. I know, I have taken my kitty to the vet many times, just to have him checked out when I thought something was wrong. When my vet said he was fine, it was worth the office charge, just for the peace of mind.
 
Yes Dyana, you're right..if it goes like this tomorrow morning I must take her...Her pmps is 258....Offcourse it's much better then the pinks and reds all over the place...

By the way I checked her body temperature, it's 38 Celsius, I don't know how to convert it to Fahrenheit. So I think her body temperature is normal...thanks god...
 
I googled the conversion and 38 celsius is equal to 100.4 fahrenheit. So her temp. seems fine.
 
Those are some really flat yellow numbers, today. Sometimes, flat yellow numbers can mean some action is coming next cycle, for some reason. I would get a test or two in tonight, if you can. Have a goodnight.
 
hi isil! punkin seeks out cool spots too. i got him a heated bed and he doesn't want it and instead will go into our basement to sleep, even when the house feels freezing cold to me. he's not sick, though. i told the vet that's giving him acupuncture about it and he said that's part of him being "off" overall. some cats just want the coolness.

as long as tifil is eating i would try not to worry too much. whenever punkin's BG numbers change i can tell he doesn't feel good. he feels best when he stays in one number range, even if it's too high. i just wonder if tifil is getting used to being in the 200's and that's why she's lethargic. she's been high for a while now. i don't know, i'm just throwing out ideas and things i've observed in punkin.

Maybe these numbers are too low for her after those astronomical numbers.
Tıfıl also likes cold places, that's not a problem, I meant maybe she got ill after she slept at the balcony. Maybe that's the reason she is feeling lethargic, just an opinion :(

It's good that she is eating thanks god, that's my only consolation...:(
