Kay spread sheet is in sig, He has been kinda all over lately. Was hoping that the fancy feast food would help lower and stabilize him. Doesn't seem too be having the effect I hoped it would. I'm surprised and confused as to why he tested so low this morning. He has been fine and was running around like crazy earlier. I don't work the next few days so will be able to work much better with him then I have the last couple days. Any advice or suggestions would be great.

Re: 1/1 Oliver +4 57

just to be sure I'm reading this correctly, Oliver hasn't had a shot since 12/26, is that correct?

What flavors of Fancy Feast are you feeding? Also, we find that with cats that are newly OTJ it helps to feed multiple, small meals rather than larger meals twice a day. Larger amounts of food can overwhelm a newly functioning pancreas, while small meals can stimulate it to do its job. Is it possible to mark on your spreadsheet when his meals were given? An easy way to do that is to just put a * in the cells where he ate.

Yeah no shot since the 12/26. He was only on insulin for about 10 days. We are hoping/trying to find some way to control him via the diet instead of the insulin. I will start feeding smaller meals and marking when he ate, he normally gets 3 meals 1-can of the fancy feast for each one. We have all different flavors of the fancy feast. I'm starting to think there might be a difference between them?

there are differences in them, not just in the carb content, but some cats also respond to some of the ingredients differently. You might want to pick one or two low-carb flavors to stick with until his pancreas gets stronger.

Most of the Classic varieties are low carb. Here's a link to Janet & Binky's food charts. It lists the carb content of most of the foods that are available. FF is on the "Old" list. The name of the FF changed -- it used to be "gourmet" so that's what's on the list. Maybe some of the others here who use FF can give you a hand with what the names are. I'm not feeding FF.

Too much fish, especially in a male cat, is not the best idea. The seafood flavors can cause crystals. The Roast Turkey and Giblets and the Classic Chicken are find. I think the Classic Beef & Chicken is OK, too.

If you edit the subject line in your first post and write something like, "FF flavors?" people will stop by.

kay will look into those flavors. Trying to find out which ones hi is best on. We need to buy more today for him. Once I figure out which ones work will setup a auto thing with amazon since It looks like I can get it cheap there and it will show up at regular intervals.

Oscar did best with "Classic Turkey and Giblets", "Classic Chopped Grill", and "Classic Tender Liver and Chicken". I used the "Flaked Fish and Shrimp" as a treat every now and again too.
