Happy New Year to all the fellow beans, sugar cats, civvies and droolers!

My year is off to a rather odd start. I am not sure who started it, but one of my cats had a major freak-out over the fireworks last night and then everyone joined in. I got a +3 test before the noise started and, after that, Mandarin was so panicked that I was unable to even touch him for most of the night... not a good thing since his +3 test was a 58. I ended up feeding everyone HC food throughout the night to make sure that Mandarin would stay safe. Luckily, he still ate a few bites here and there (and, once again, I am very thankful that I have two sugar cats who love food).

All things considered, his AMPS is surprisingly low. Walter, on the other hand, is still on a sugar high after all those extra carbs.

I am meeting some friends for lunch, so let's hope that Mandarin is planning on a nice little New Year's Day surf.

Lots of people complaining about fireworks noise today! In Canada I don't think backyard fireworks are legal at New Years. I know our city hall sets off fireworks at midnight, in some ways I wish I was close enough to see it but Boomer would have freaked so I'm glad we live out of the downtown area.
 
Happy New Year! Sorry the fireworks scared the kitties so much. I'm glad you were able to get them to eat since you couldn't test. I hope Mandarin surfs safely for you today so you can go out. Enjoy your lunch.
 
OMG about the fireworks and Mandarin freaking out. Good plan to feed them all HC food to keep Mandarin safe and from the looks of things, he is no worse for the wear.

Honestly, I didn't even think it was bad and my neighborhood was fairly quiet overall. My dogs slept right through it. All it took was probably one cat that panicked and then everyone followed suit.
 
Ugh on the fireworks...poor kitties. I've reached a point where even though I think fireworks are pretty, I hate them - because if it scare my own babies, all I can think about is all the other animals (domestic and wild) that are totally freaked out. I hope everyone is calm today...enjoy your lunch!!
 
Poor kitts with the fireworks and good thinking giving a bit of HC last night. Poor little Mandarin and he's looking great. Walter will come down off his carb high soon enough. Enjoy your afternoon Christina.
