Good morning all!
Happy New Year! I cannot believe it's 2019 already! I went ahead and increased Lou to 3.0u last night, and so far I'm glad I did. Another relatively stagnant cycle, but at least we have a yellow AMPS instead of pink! I'll take it. I hope something happens today with his BGs. He seemed strangely skiddish this morning at shot time, and I'm not sure why. I feel like I've been saying that a lot lately. I don't know what's happened with him and I feel like I'm grasping at straws and fighting a losing battle. :blackeye:

Nothing much on my plate today. It's my first day off in 5 days. Both Caleb and I have the day off today actually, so that's nice. I hope you all have a wonderful day and your kitties surf safely! I'm wishing you all a very Happy New Year, hopefully it'll be a great year for us all! Sending vines to Tracey and Mr. Jones (@Tracey&Jones), Miss P (@Phoebes), Bella (@Bellasmom) and to anyone else in need. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Glad Lou is coming down if if it is slowly! Maybe time to change the routine a little in the morning? Take some anxiety out of it maybe?

Have a great day off.

Well, he had the opposite reaction today than what I thought. Back in pinks. :blackeye: Unfortunately he's peed outside the litterbox at least 3 times in the last 24 hours. I hate to sound cold, but I'm really losing patience with the kid. He has a history of peeing outside of the LB when it needs to be cleaned (on something of value, specifically). He wasn't sick, he was just being a jerk. He's never done it continuously. He'd do it once, get his point across, and that was the end of it. He has two big tote LBs that are cleaned once, sometimes twice a day. So at this point, does he really have a UTI or is he being an ass? It's hard to say. He's been on 1 tsp D-mannose 4x/day for 48 hours, and if it is a UTI, it doesn't seem to be helping the peeing or his BGs. I thought about bringing him to the ER today after discovering the ammonia-pee paradise, but it seemed like an extreme reaction, considering. I'm going to call around and get him in somewhere tomorrow to make sure a UTI isn't the issue.

It's frustrating if it is a UTI. I've read the literature, and he's on the all wet food diet and we give him plenty of extra water with each meal. The only real stress he may experience is testing, but it isn't intentional (he makes it worse than it needs to be) and there isn't anything we can do about that unless his pancreas starts working again. I'm at a loss guys. I feel like I'm doing everything I can and it's not enough. :blackeye: All I can hope for at this point is that tomorrow will be a better day...

I hope tomorrow will be a better day, too. Did you have any extra stress in your household over the holidays? Some cats don't like their routines interrupted. I hope a vetty visit will solve the litterbox issues. What's going on, Mr. Lou?

Happy New Year to your and yours. About him being skittish, I think sometimes they just get enough of testing and shots........

So sorry about the peeing outside the box. If you haven't had a sterile catch urine specimen done lately, maybe one is necessary. A lot of kitties have UTI's that are stress related with no bacteria present yet the vets RX unnecessary AB's. I see you are all ready doing the D Mannose. Experiment with different kitty litters, scented vs unscented, but first experiment with the depth of the litter . Some kitties don't like a lot of litter. So, if your box is a couple inches deep with litter, remove some and make it only 1 inch or less and see if that helps. These cats :banghead:
also, try some Litter attract in the litter and Feliway spray around the box and any areas he like to lie in. If you can get some Rescue Remedy to give also, that could be helpful if this is just stress.

With the BG numbers and out of box incidents, it does sound like that vet visit is a good idea. UTI’s are not uncommon with our sugar cats.:bighug::bighug: Bacteria like sugar to grow in. :(
