Happy New Year! Apologies for the long break, hope everyone had a lovely holiday.
Binx and I have had a lot to deal with over the last week, so we took some time away. We unexpectedly had to say goodbye to my other cat Sadie. After spending our final Christmas together, she stopped eating and something felt off. I took her into the vet and her kidney values had spiked significantly, without reason. I tried to give her a fighting chance by hospitalizing her for constant fluids, but her numbers only got worse. Ultimately, I took her home to spend her last few days with Binx and I in the comfort of home. She was such a sweet cat and so resilient. I didn't get nearly enough time with her, but I'm so grateful for the time I did get and the love she so quickly showed me.
Sadie and Binx were bonded, so I'm worried about how he's handling everything. I've left her things out for him, including the blanket she passed with, and he has been mostly staying around them... I think he knows and he's grieving. The first night she was gone, he woke me up howling on her blanket, it absolutely broke my heart. I think we both just need some time.
Here's a photo of Binx comforting Sadie on her last day. She wasn't moving around much, so he kept by her side a lot.
I know she's resting now and is no longer in pain. My sweet Sadie baby.
Please give all your fur babies hugs, kisses and scratches. Hold them close
