I know you just replaced the old chair, would it be easier for the time being to hide the new chair? Put it somewhere that Alska can't get to it? Hide it in your bedroom or spare room?
Just wondered, if you did that to see if he'd stop the wetting or go to another piece of furniture.
Years ago, Lucian would always pee on the cardboard scratching insert in the toy thingy. I got tired of replacing them 2-3 times a week so I got rid of the toy. He never peed on anything else.
I realize you don't want to get rid of the chair, but maybe move it into another room that you can close off. I just wonder if the isolation is good for him? Will being isolated make it worse? I'm sure some cats are fine with isolation, they are very private animals mostly, but I'm guessing that it may bother some kitties.
Have you considered throwing a blanket/sheet over the chair and see if that helps? You could always remove it when company's coming. ;-) I found that the only way to keep the cats from clawing my sofa, was to put a sheet over it. It might look tacky, but it protected the sofa and I'd take it off when someone came to visit. After a couple weeks, I just bought a slipcover. Funny, 10 yrs later, my sofa still looked new, it had always been covered.

There is no place to move the chair. I have an open plan first floor. All bedrooms are upstairs. I do cover it with towels on plastic but civvies tend to disturb it. Last night blanket caught it but if I hadn't seen him do it it might have soaked through.

So I woke him and carried him upstairs for his test and shot and he went right to the litterbox. I will carry him back up to the bed at bedtime. He better not get any heavier. I think he feels trapped when he is downstairs but wants to be down when I am here. He likes his room so I don't think it will be too bad for him to be closed in during the work day as and let out when I get home. It's just a routine that we will just have to get used to.
