1/1/13 Lovey Reduction Question #3?

I reduced Lovey from a pretty fat 2 to 1.75 due to a 66 on the alphatrak a few days ago.
Should I be patient for another cycle or two or should I go up to a fat 1.75 (skinny 2)? Numbers especially preshots are running higher but I have had some mid to high blue. I have off from work until Monday. Lovey was very bouncy when I started Lantus but she is doing much better.

I would give this the full 6 cycles to sort out if this is Lovey bouncing (or not). There are a couple of factors to consider. You reduced by more than 0.25u. That might be effecting dose. From your SS notes, it sounds like you're having a hard time consistently measuring the dose. If that's the case, you might want to think about getting calipers. That will allow you to rely less on the way the syringes are marked. If you think you gave more insulin, you have to give whatever the dose was 6 cycles to allow the depot to stabilize.

This is what I use Harbor Freight 4 Inch Digital Caliper. It took about a week to get the hang of it, but I know I am getting a much more accurate dose as opposed to relying on syringe markings that varied as much as 1/2 unit sometimes.

I was going to tell you about the calipers, but it seems Dyana beat me to it. :smile: We've been using them for a while and I feel so much more confident about the measuring. Of course, I still double-check before I give it, but it used to take me :10 - :15 sometimes to feel I had it close enough.
