Good morning everyone :)

Day 8 OTJ...levels holding up nicely.

I am watching Blaze's eating because it is not regular yet...he is not liking the DM food...I told the vet that. He said to give it a few more days and monitor his weight. When he is really hungry, if he has barely eaten at one of the feedings, the next one he will eat more but still not enough...because he is really hungry. Vet said that if his weight starts to creep down, that he will give me an alternative but for now he wants me to continue to try the DM.

Ash, on the other end, got into the DM food and loves it...of course that's my luck! The one who needs to eat it, doesn't like it, and the other one, whom I am keeping on the FF loves it.

Well, I am sure I will sort this out one way or another.

Going to have some coffee and then work, talk to you a little later today.

Morning, Paola! :bighug:

I am watching Blaze's eating because it is not regular yet...he is not liking the DM food...I told the vet that. He said to give it a few more days and monitor his weight. When he is really hungry, if he has barely eaten at one of the feedings, the next one he will eat more but still not enough...because he is really hungry. Vet said that if his weight starts to creep down, that he will give me an alternative but for now he wants me to continue to try the DM.
There is NO reason on God's green earth why your vet should get to dictate what you feed your cat. It's appropriate for them to advise, but no further than that. Blaze requires a high protein, moderate fat, preferably wet food that provides less than 10% of the calories in the form of carbs. The Fancy Feast patés you've been feeding check all those boxes. And Blaze wants to eat them. There is nothing special about the DM food.

You've already followed the vet's recommendation about trialling the DM and it hasn't been successful. At the end of the day a vet can recommend foods till they're blue in the face but the recommended foods won't be of any benefit whatsoever if a cat doesn't want to eat them. Perhaps agree with your vet that you'll continue feeding the FF and doing the 2 daily BG checks for a number of weeks and then review the diet situation, or sooner should Blaze's BG levels start to drift upwards.

Ain't broke. Don't fix.

I agree 200% with Mogs. I’d ditch the DM. I wouldn’t even tell the vet. Look at the ingredients. There’s nothing thing special in them. It could be argued correctly that there are tons of foods with better ones.
Happy day 8!

I agree with you both, he wants the FF and that is what he is having tonight. I can't watch him disappear...he has had trouble with eating for a long time. I weighted him and he is now at 16 pounds...he was 17 on August 31st.
The poop situation has been resolved, he has regular poops now!
