Stopped by Jo's to check on Dusty after work.
Got a 87 mg/dL glucose, so he's still OTJ.
My scale's batteries died, so I didn't get a weight. His spine seems a little less prominent.
He was alert, and walking well. Jumped off my lap with no problems.

She says he is still having problems with the diarrhea. I mentioned getting squash baby food to try. I'll be on the lookout for it at the grocery, too.

Hi, BJ ~

"She says he is still having problems with the diarrhea." -- Have you tried adding psyllium husk powder (plain powder, not flavored) to his canned food? One of our cats, G, had a terrible problem with severe diarrhea for over a year after he came to us as a stray. Our vet thought G might need to be on Flagyl for the rest of his life. But we started him on FortiFlora which helped a little. Then we added 1/8 teaspoon of psyllium husk powder to his canned food three times a day, and his poop firmed up almost immediately. If we stop either the FortiFlora or the psyllium, G's diarrhea returns. I'd much rather have him on FortiFlora and psyllium powder than Flagyl.

Take care,
Eva

Got a good source?

I've got to find some I can give her. She wouldn't be able to open capsules, nor crush tablets, plus it needs to be unflavored, and easy to measure a pinch because using a measure spoon doesn't work well with her hands, which shake.

BJ, I buy our psyllium husk powder online. Usually I get it through Amazon.com, but their prices don't seem very competitive for smaller quantities. Lucky Vitamin and iherb are both companies that I've dealt with on good terms before. I like the NOW brand because it's worked so well for our cat, G, and our cat, Bob, but there are many other brands that I'm sure would work as well. I'd be glad to order a bottle for you...just pm me.

P.S. BJ, if you want to get the psyllium husk powder faster, you might want to ask about it on the Main Health Board. You might get suggestions on local brands and where to buy. Just a thought.

Thank you for helping with Dusty!
