I'm going to take J.D. to the vet. I got him to eat one 1/4 can meal of FF, and then one half of a 1/4 can (1/8 can), and then 1/3 jar of baby food beef with broth, and then most of another 1/3 jar of baby food last night, but it wasn't easy.

I woke up to three stinky prezzies. One pudding (I hope no one likes pudding :oops: ) poo on the carpet near the pee pads, one wettish but formed poo on the pee pad, and one normal looking poo in the litter box. That's a lot of poos.

This morning, he just doesn't want to eat much. He was interested in his 1st Breffis of 1/4 can of FF and ate a few bites. I added a bit of water and warmed it up and he finished most of it.

I'm going to ask if I can give him Flagyl and bring in a poo sample.

Please send feel better, and eating vines to J.D.

The vet office that I just recently started going to, doesn't have any appointments open until 5:00pm.
I just gave him some ondansetron and cypro.
I might just call his "regular"/old vet around the corner from my house, and see if they can work us in any earlier.

He's acting pretty normal, walking about and going out on the deck for drinks from his watering can.

I bet he would eat some HC or even some MC, if offered.

Nice blue JD. I hope you get him in to the vet sooner than later. Flagy always does wonders with Tarragon when he has pudding poo. Keep us posted. Big hugs!

The only suggestions I can think of is to remove beef from J.D.'s diet in case what's going on is a food allergy. I'd also see about keeping him on the Flagyl for a longer period. Gabby went through a period of intermittent diarrhea. It wasn't until we kept her on Flagyl for month that it cleared up.

I just hope it's not the pill pockets that are causing the problems, because I need those pill pockets.

J.D. just finished the rest of his baby food beef and broth from last night. He doesn't like the chicken or turkey baby food.
Lately, his FF flavors that he will eat is Beef Feast, Beef and Liver, and Chunky Turkey. He will usually eat Gourmet Chicken, and sometimes reluctanly Chunky Chicken. He does like freeze dried chicken and usually likes fresh boiled chicken.

I think the last time he was on Flagyl (12/08 and 12/09) it caused inappetance and I don't need that. I hope I am mistaken and he was just inappetant anyway when he needed the Flagyl. On 12/10 I have in my spreadsheet notes that the vet told me to STOP the Flagyl, but if I remember right his poos firmed right up right away.

I haven't called the other vet, yet.

Sometimes, after he eats he looks like he has a tummy ache (like his head is held downwards) and it reminds me of when he has pancreatitis, but he didn't have diarrhea when he had pancreatitis before.

Hey Dyana - sorry JD isn't feeling well. I hope you can get him to eat and get an earlier vet appt. Prayers are headed your way! I'll be watching for updates.

I just made an appointment at the vet around the corner for 4:00pm. He's eating better now. So, I feel better.

Awww, I have no kind of advice about tummy problems. I hope vet has good answer for J.D.
Try not to stress too much, Dyana, or you'll be having tummy troubles too. :YMHUG:

Hi Dyana,
Maybe try a "unique" food like venison or rabbit? If J.D. has a beef allergy, something not beef but not poultry, either, might help him "firm up".

That 47 was a surprise. He ate some kibble at +3 (about a teaspoon and a half?). We went for a walk, and he has been laying on an old folded bedspread that I put on the deck for him to lay on. He just ate most of the teaspoon of FF I gave him and then went to finish off Ginger's unfinished breffis with some freeze dried chicken on top. I'm glad I'm home today.

Hi Dyana. So sorry that J.D. isn't feeling good. We're sending him lots of healing and appy vines and best wishes for a good vet report this afternoon. In your last post. It sounds like his appy is a bit better so that's a good sign.

After eating the 1 teaspoon of LC FF at +4, I tried again at +4.5 and he refused. I ended up putting 1/4 can of FF Roasted Turkey (about 8%) in a bowl and J.D. and Ginger shared it and then the same thing again at +5.25 (and I think J.D. gets more when they share like that because J.D. takes big bites).
He probably read the computer about the HC or MC and had a craving for that. The FF Roasted is almost MC.

He's sitting on the couch watching Pit Boss on Animal Planet.

The cypro seems to have worked today. He ate another 1/4 can of 8% FF at +7.5 and is now licking the bowl clean where YAZC is kept out for him.

I am bringing the last IDEXX results he had from the other vet where his cobalamin was high, a stool sample from last night (he hasn't gone today), and a list of questions: Ask about Slippery Elm Bark, and about Flagyl (and whether it is okay for kitties with kidney issues). Ask whether his water fountain could cause the diarrhea. Ask about taking him off of beef for a test and how long. And ask about how he often goes pee against the side of his litter box and his butt must get wet with pee, so how do or should I clean it.

Okay, we're off.

Sending lots of healing vines & anti-poo vines for JD. Also, re. pill pockets - I stopped those & now use a tiny bit of cheddar cheese - it's been fine for my cats, but they don't have any dairy allergies. Hope it's just something temporary & SIMPLE!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes.

J.D.'s appointment was at 4:00pm and we left at 3:50pm since it is just around the corner and they saw us right away and we walked back in the door to home at 5:00pm. The vet sent out a complete blood work up and Spec fPL and Cobalamin / Folate test and a stool sample. He is to get 2 pills of Flagyl twice per day. The blood tests should be back tomorrow, but I'm not sure how long the Spec fPL takes.

I think I am going to need another chart to remember when to give what.
I thought of this plan. Give Flagyl at 4:00am, and then at 6:00am at AMPS give food and FortiFlora (or Renew, I'm not sure which yet) and then at night give Flagyl when I get home at PMPS 6:00pm and then give the probiotics at 8:00pm at bedtime.

I'm just not sure how the Azodyl and Denamarin will work in the equation, as I usually give 1 Denamarin at AMPS and 1 Azodyl at PMPS, but I'm not sure how they mix with the new mix of meds.

J.D. ate all his 1st Dinner and then started munching on Ginger's.
 
I'm glad you were able to get in to the vet so quickly. I hope you get good b/w results back and the Flagyl helps with the diarrhea.

It's nice to hear this good report for the end of your hard day.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty much certain that a beef allergy caused my cat's panc, which turned into diabetes. Although he doesn't have a problem with eating chicken, rabbit, turkey or quail, I find that crushing some freeze-dried treats and sprinkling them over the food, or adding a few strips of bonito on top, is an appetite stimulant.
