Furball was happy and purry this morning. I hope I come home to lower numbers today and not pink again.

I was looking over the stuff my vet gave me when Furball had her dental last week. Has anyone used any of these items (listed below)? Does anyone know if they are okay for a diabetic cat? I can’t tell from the ingredients list.

C.E.T. AquaDent drinking water additive
C.E.T. Enzymatic Toothpaste
samples of Hill’s T/D dry food

The dry food surprised me. I gave a couple of pieces to one of my other cats and he flipped over it. They must put something in it to give it a great flavor.

Also does anyone know if Feline Greenies dental treats are bad for a diabetic? Thanks for your input.

Hi Carla, glad Furball is feeling good today. The C.E.T products were brought up in Zener's condo yesterday which might help. I've used the C.E.T. toothpaste on Maggie and feel it's a good product. I've not used the other two. Have a nice day. Thanks for all your visits and support for little Maggie.

I use CET toothpaste, as well, although I use it with Gizmo. Gabby wants no part of having her teeth brushed.

Feline Greenies are high carb. Ingredients: BEEF FLAVOR: Chicken meal, rice flour, wheat flour, corn gluten meal, oat fiber, poultry fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), natural poultry flavor, sodium gluconate, beef flavor, ground flaxseed, brewers dried yeast,

T/D is 30% carb. Not good food for a diabetic. What the heck is your vet thinking? In addition, here are the key ingredients: Chicken By-Product Meal, Brewers Rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Whole Grain Corn, Powdered Cellulose, Pork Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols and citric acid), Chicken Liver Flavor. I'm not sure you want to be feeding Furball by-products and grain.

Hi Carla,
Wow on those ingredients Sienne gives for the "greenies" and the dry food! (it makes you wonder, doesn't it?) Your vet must be pushing free samples to benefit the pet-food companies! Sorry I can't be of help for toothpaste or anything else along that line: Rusty doesn't like to have his mouth fussed with. As Sienne mentioned, she brushes Gizmo's teeth (he likes it), and I know that Ann brushes Tess's teeth, but I don't know what kind of toothpaste she uses.

Good luck in finding something that Furball will tolerate.

Have a great day,

Ella & Rusty

I think my vet just gave me the standard post dental packet and didn't think about Furball being a diabetic. They didn't actually give me the Feline Greenies, but there was a brochure for it. Thanks for the information everyone.

I think all the regular cat treats are just as bad. 10x worse than dry food.
I'm pretty convinced I helped push Shadow over the edge because I was letting her have so many since her extractions when she
pretty much quit eating dry food. Stress, surgeries, new puppies, and lots of treats plus a 14% or higher carbed canned
food. ohmygod_smile
Sometimes when I go in petsmart, I want to scream at everyone to get away from all the poisonlike foods.
Save the kitties!!!!
