It's just a little scary.
But he likes to be flat, and that's such an advantage. Unless .. what if, he wants to be flat under 70? I guess I bring him up .. just jabbering away here.

Typing over Jackson's head who's laying between me and the laptop right now.
I just felt like I have to take advantage as I now work from home, although I do work 6 days a week, I do get two 5 minute breaks and two 15 minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch break to test him each day.
It's the acro tumor that scares me because I think I read that acrocats have a working pancreas and the tumor can ebb? sometimes.

Some acros have a working pancreas, some don't. When an acrocat (not treated) has a tumour ebb, it's not a fast rate. However, cabergoline in the picture can make things more "exciting". Hence taking a higher reduction point. If cabergoline is really working well, BCS and back to back reductions may be necessary.
 
I noticed that the food this morning didn't seem to affect his BGs.
He got his usual 1 can of Fancy Feast pate for AMPS and a couple of his usual 1/8 cans, and in between for testing treats some freeze dried treats and a small morsel of cooked lean hamburger.
I have a small supply of higher carb food and some teeny little jars of honey, Maybe I should get more. I looked at the pharmacy area in WalMart for glucose but everything was flavored for humans. I just want to be prepared.

Thanks. Tomorrow he goes to the vet for standard bloodwork.
Can you imagine if he is bouncing and a person not testing blood sugars regularly just goes by a 6 month bloodwork panel to adjust the dose? I don't have to worry about that but so many do..
 
Beautiful cycle, Jackson! Yeah, knowing the cycles of cat's like Jackson and Bell, I don't even want to imagine what goes on with people that only do a curve at the vet once in awhile.

I have a friend who never tested his cat's bg at home--he took the cat to the vet periodically for curves. Occasionally, his poor cat would pass out, and the cg would rub some Karo syrup on his gums ☹️ Crazy. The vets here just don't encourage home testing.
 
Yeah, I went to my vet's "diabetes school" and they were shocked when I came in with a meter and said I wanted a demo of how to prick his ears and they were just never gonna bring that up I guess???? They were just gonna have me inject him with 2u and not be testing him I guess???

Glad you got to be home with him on a potentially tricky day! That's always the best!
