How much D-Mannose do you give a cat for a UTI? Is it weight based? My mom's cat has a UTI and I'm wondering if D-Mannose will help. Thanks.

Bummer about work. Hope you have an easy. calm day. Hope Furball gets back into the low blues.
I was giving 1/8 teaspoon twice a day on the D-Mannose. Maggie seemed to not like the taste, so I stopped for a while.

Don't quote me, but I think d-mannose is better as prevention as opposed to being a cure. I'm sure you know this, but if she really has an infection, ABs are the only way to go so it doesn't escalate into something worse.

Surf safely, Furball!

Hi Carla. Squallie stays on a regular dose of 1/8 tsp of d-mannose twice a day. I mix it into his food and he doesn't even seem to notice it. It has a very slight, mild, sweetish taste. Since starting it almost a year ago he has not had any more UTIs (knock on wood).

Glad Furball is doing well today, hope she surfs safely.

Sorry about the end of your vacation........

Thanks everyone. My mom is taking her to the vet. I just wondered if the D-Mannose would help her get better quicker.

Hi Hun-
D Mannose does help if you can get enough in them and preferably give fluids as well because when enough is in the bladder and the kitty pees it flushes it out-
It is goo for prevention and a active infection but if the infection is advanced AB will be needed.
Dre is about 19 pounds and if I suspect a UTI I give a full capsule am and pm
for prevention I give a capsule about 2x a week.
I do not use the one with cranberry. I hope she is feeling better-
It has very little taste-easy to mix. (with Dre I just pill him)

Sure hope your mom's kitty's UTI clears up probably needs AB.:bighug:
Looks like Furball likes yellow surf safe Furball:cat: maybe a splash of blue soon:cool::cool:
