Last week's post

Ivana is still meandering around at The Falls - so many new kitties to greet as they arrive fresh from their OTJ parties (ok, maybe some are not so fresh ;)). I think she thinks this remission thing is pretty good, and I've definitely got to agree with that!

Ivana had a bit of a yucky tummy on Wednesday night, we think because of the Calcitriol - she gets a dose twice weekly, on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Apparently it's common for kitties to feel a little off on dose days. She's taken to not eating much of her midnight snack either in the last few days - not sure if it's because she's sleeping through the night, or some other reason. We're not concerned though because she still asks for breakfast, so it's not like she's lost her appetite - I'll just try serving her a smaller midnight snack and see if that helps.

We've also switched from coconut oil to MCT oil, and she seems to be tolerating it a bit better. I think she wasn't too keen on the coconut oil (organic and virgin, no less!) because it had a flavour and it also went hard when I mixed it into her food (I had to melt it to measure and mix it, but the cool weather solidified it again). The MCT oil is flavourless and stays liquid, so it's easier to hide in her food. Miss Fussy Pants doesn't seem to eat around it like she sometimes did with the coconut oil. When the weather warms up, we'll switch back to the coconut oil and see what happens.

No photo of HRH this week I'm afraid :( (ETA: Photo in comment below!)

What no photo I am feeling quite ripped off!
Here you go, just took this tonight :-)

Thanks for MCT info. Polly's grown tired of the coconut oil (yes extra virgin, organic) I've been using. Won't go to waste, though. The dogs eat anything! (even stuff they're not supposed to!)

Love the photo! Such a beautiful girl.

@pollydoodle Marilyn, how do you give Polly the coconut oil? I wonder if I could be serving it a better way. Ours won't go to waste either, we use it a lot in our cooking and I use it as a facial moisturiser too :-)

At first I melted it. Mixed it in food. Then one morning she started eating a solid piece off her plate. Now, of course, she's off her morning food so I've held off on the coconut oil thinking that might be the aversion. Will start with some fish oil tomorrow.

Sorry Polly isn't eating well at the moment, hope she gets back to normal soon. I tried the solid piece with Ivana too and it didn't work. She just eats around it. Mixing it into food seems to get the best results for her, although because it's still cool here the coconut oil solidifies into little pieces in her food and she eats around those, the little bugger. Hence the change to the MCT oil.
