Hopefully, this 384 is a repeat of last night's.
I went to take the kittys for a walk this morning, and J.D. didn't want to go, so I left him on the deck and Ginger and I went. She likes to run across the big lawn as fast as a cheetah, and I thought she was in the mood for a good run, so I told her to stay, as I do, and walked to the far end of the cold wet grass and when I stopped walking I called her, and she (being fussy about getting her feet wet) decided she didn't care for a run this morning. She was busy, smelling some bushes, and she normally comes right home for Breffis, so I left her, to go back home and to J.D.
She did not come home.
When I looked out the door a few minutes later, she was no where in sight. So, I got the treats and started out the door calling her name (at 6:30am on a Saturday morning, for all my neighbors with their windows open to hear
), and shaking the treat bag.
J.D. always likes to get in on the searching for Ginger because I always bring his treats too. So, off J.D. and I go on our hunt for Ginger. We go around the corner of my building, and I see Ghost (not his real name, but that's what I call him), a 20 something pound, over weight, and big white cat (that's weird in that he likes to hiss at you at the same time he rubs up against your legs and shakes his tail), hiding in the bushes. My first thought, was is Ginger okay?, because Ghost often comes out when I call for Momma (a squirrel) even though Ghost is a boy and Momma is a girl and Ghost is a cat and Momma is a squirrel. My cats often approach him and he seems timid, and I always make sure they don't interact (and I go always wash my hands when I get home, after petting him). Well, Ginger was no where in sight still, and I'm shaking the bag of treats and calling for Ginger, and J.D. is coming along behind me. And then, Ghost decided he'll come out of the bushes and maybe get some treats too. J.D. is approaching Ghost, with me standing in between the two cats, and I tried to give J.D. a treat, but he wasn't interested in the treat. He kept approaching Ghost. J.D. is only 13.3 pounds, and at least twice (maybe 3 or 4 times) Ghost's age.
I try, to keep myself along J.D.'s side, and push him away, a little, when he gets too close (within a few feet nailbite_smile ). Soon, Ghost starts trotting off towards his home, and J.D. is following with a determined and fast walk, after him. I walk along side J.D. (to protect my baby), but letting him do what comes naturally to him, and telling him he's a good boy. We get around the front of the next building, and we don't see Ghost. J.D. keeps going, and finally decides he's going to search through some bushes, and I keep gently pulling him away from the bushes, a few times, and he's kind of hissing at me, because he wants to get that cat.. and then I see Ghost .. hiding under a parked car .. but J.D. doesn't see him, and keeps walking along peering at the bushes, and we go all the way around the building with J.D. smelling the places where Ghost normally hangs out, and then finally we're back around the next building over from ours, facing towards home again, and there is Ginger waiting by the steps leading up to our condo. She must have been hiding in the bushes, but watching her hero J.D. chase off that big white kitty.
I did for some reason? take my camera with me, so luckily I got some halfway decent pictures of J.D. for the 2013 FDMB Calendar. I hope everyone that wants their cat's picture in the calendar, is getting their photos in. The last I heard was Deanie was extending the deadline a little, and is still accepting photos.
When J.D. was done with his adventure, and we were facing back towards home, he went pee in the grass, and then as we were walking along towards home, he was eating grass, so his tummy might be upset.
I just served 1st Breffis, and he did not want any. I almost gave him some cypro, but decided to hold off for a bit.
J.D. is now laying in his little kitty bed, and I'll try taking his food to him.
