08/28 - GIDEON BLUE - AMPS = 420, +3 = 407, +6 = 352, +9 = 408, PMPS = 381

Flat so a non bouncy cat would not drop too low on this cycle. Not going to say that with Gideon.

Shiloh, could you please copy/paste the url from your thread/condo into this one? For historical purposes...thank you!

Looks like Gideon is on a bounce today - hope he clears that soon :)

I was just looking at my Gideon's ears in the sunlight. I thought we were keeping his ears in great condition, but they do not look that way to me. I see little red dots all along his ear veins, and they look like they would be sore. We do hold a cotton pad for 10 seconds after we test, and also apply Neosporin with pain relief. One more thing, Gideon was always so easy to test. Now he is flicking his ears around and it makes it so much more difficult. I usually poke him once and we are done, but the +3 today took me 4-5 times! He would not keep his head, nor his ears still! He also flicked his ears after I had the blood ready for the test stick, and I lost it a couple of times. I had two test sticks error out also. This doesn't usually happen. Any suggestions?

I agree with Elise...try to capture the blood drop on the back of your thumbnail, just the tip...

If he's going to flick it off while you're trying to get the test strip, etc. at least you'll have the drop where you can do with it as you need to...before he flicks...

I wonder if he has another issue with his ears right now?

I kind of laughed when you asked if I could get his blood on my finger. The +3 test today I certainly had his blood on my finger...:-) I looked like I was bleeding!
All kidding aside, I will try to get the blood on the back of my thumbnail if he is giving me a hard time.
Thank you.

I am working tonight and tomorrow night. Normally my husband gets a +3 before he goes to bed.
Do you think he needs to set his alarm for a +6 tonight?

From looking at his SS, he's an 'every other day kinda guy'. I think tomorrow you may see some better numbers.

It's always a good idea to get a test before going to bed - just as a matter of habit. But unless something dramatic is happening then, I probably wouldn't bother with a 6+ tonight.

Hopefully tomorrow he'll be back into some better numbers and you'll have another chance to 'feed the curve'...don't let him go too low, because he's a bouncer...feed at the first sign of falling numbers...and keep feeding...

Have a good evening!

Thanks. Husband will get a +3, and then go to bed. I have a 4% can and an 8% can going out for the night.

Time to get over that bounce Gideon!

Small house keeping note: when your question is answered, could you remove the "?" prefix on the subject line. Thank you!

A falling PMPS. This could be an active cycle or it could be the infamous Lantus double dip. A double dip is a small dip near the end of a cycle.
If you or your husband could get some tests in tonight, a +1 and +2 to start, that would be good.

I leave for work at 9PM, and never saw this message. My husband did do a +3 test, and Gideon was 375. He then put out a couple of different foods. One was 4% carbs and one was 8% in case he starts to go low.
Thank you.
