Good morning,

The skies are clearing in the Okanagan but we've been put on alert that we're in for another spell of heat this coming weekend and we still have two months left of fire season...

Anyway, here is yesterday:

I should have said that I've made the switch in Eddie's food to a brand called Open Farm: the food is "human grade" and comes in little tetra packs, like juice. Eddie loves it and right now, I'll take that.

Nice to see some overnight blues. And a food that meets with his approval.

Heard anything about blood work results yet?

You back in the office again? Just wondering if the uni is open again, and why the no day time tests.

Blood results in: attached. The short version: vet is quite pleased with results.

He says this:
Attached the first results for Eddie.
Complete Blood Count: normal
T4: normal
SDMA: normal - no evidence for decreased renal function
Biochemical profile:
ALP 75 (N<59) can be seen with cholestatic liver disease or pancreatic involvement impinging the bile duct
Glu 16.5 No surprise here we knew he has DM, not a bad number for a stress inducing clinic visit
SPEC FPL-FELINE 4.7 ug/L 0.0 - 4.4 Mild change may indicate resolving or mild pancreatitis
I’m happy with the many normal values, possible pancreatic episode for a few days in the past.

I'm really happy to see how enthusiastic Eddie is about this new food. It's a bit $$ but, wow, I'd pay twice the amount when I see him running towards the kitchen for a meal or a snack.

Uni back in business next week; but the administration has been working in the background like apps on a computer (I don't want to say "malware", hahaha). I've been attending meetings and admin retreat off campus this week. Got back in time today for a AM +8.

Nice +8!

For what Eddie was going through, the blood work looks great. I agree that he probably had a touch of p'titis, hopefully all gone now. Next time you do regular b/w, might want to throw in a urinalysis, just to make sure he's concentrating his urine. I'm saying that because some of his kidney numbers are upper normal range so worth keeping an eye on.

Yes I was going to get the urinalysis done but he peed in the carrier (!) on the way (in addition to his exam table activity). Vet said there wasn’t any pee available…so he may have to spend a day in clinic for that to happen. While he was threre though for the last Emerg visit they said no uti anyway.

I typically get urinalysis done if there is some in the bladder. I don't like leaving a cat at the vet for that either. I'm not so much worry about the UTI, but urine concentration (morning sample best) can be an early sign of kidney issues. I don't think it's a rush, just next time he's getting poked at the vet.

One good thing is that he’s not been peeing or drinking water as much in the last few weeks. Vet was also happy about his hydration levels and said let’s try subq every 3 days instead of two or even every 4 days.

One other thing:
The last urinalysis was when he was in emerg on July 28 (that was when he wasn't peeing and had diarrhea)
Urinalysis USG 1.034, Prot 30, Blood, but no WBC, no bacteria, quiet sediment
