I tried feeding Dallas MC Food after his +4 test, but he will not eat it and got sick off of it last night. He is eating LC now, but would it be ok to give him a tiny bit of HC? We have to leave in about 2 hours for the day, but I want to make sure he'll be safe. His HC food is 21%. He's never had it before, but hopefully he'll like it.

What's a normal BG level in cats and what's an alarming number? I always thought normal level was between 80-120, and he is lower than that now.

LC should be fine since it is later in the cycle. Can you test again in an hour?

Normal BG for a cat is 50-100 mg/dl on a human meter. A drop below 50 is the "take action" number. Depending on where in the cycle the low occurs, you may need more or less carbs to bring his numbers up. Later in the cycle you need less carbs.

Saw I just read the part about not eating mc and wanted you to know you can make the lc mc. If home for 2 hours I agree with Bhooma. Feed lc and test in an hour.

You are home for the next 2 hours, right?
Yes, I am home for the next two hours and can stay later if absolutely need be. I won't leave him home alone when he could be in danger. He just ate lc and I will test in an hour. If he's still going down I will give him a bit of hc mixed with his lc and test again before I leave.

My boyfriend actually mentioned this earlier. Was wondering if mixing his lc and a tiny bit of hc would make it the same as his md. Good to know! Thank you. Hopefully he'll like his hc. Tuna and cheddar cheese.

He seemed to be feeling great earlier this morning, but as he's dropping he seems more sleepy, but it could just be a coincidence.

It takes them time to get used to normal numbers because it's feels like the loss of a sugar/caffeine high. But once they get used to them, they begin to feel great!

Btw, could you please take out the "?" and "Will not eat his MC food" from your thread title? Thanks! :-)

Oh yes! It's been removed :)

67 @ +5. I'll check again before I leave. I'm going to feed him again right before I leave. Should he get lc mixed with hc, or is lc good enough?
