Are you keeping the Alpha or returning it? I ask because I know people that on a daily basis test with a human meter but occasionally test with the Alpha when supplying numbers for their vet. Another idea is to take your meter with you to your next vet visits and compare the results done on the same sample. That way your vet can see how they differ. My vet had never seen the meter I used but we tested using both and he looks at my spreadsheets that I send him. I am so glad I didn't start with the Alpha as I am having to test so much it would add a lot to the cost of treating Max and in my opinion is an unnecessary expense. The last vet visit we tested using the alpha in his office, I tested before going with my meter at home and got the lab results and they were not very different.

I suppose I'll keep it for now. I doubt they would take it as a return anyhow as I got it for a promotional deal. My vet has shown great adversity to the human meter so I suppose I will give him his curves in the AT numbers as he wishes. I will likely do as you suggest as well..

It's strange really.. I'm the one that took her in and said "her glucose is high.. I tested it at home.. (with my own human meter). She of course was showing clinical signs is the reason I checked it and had suspicion. He didn't trust it right from the start which is why he loaned me the AT from his office and insisted I buy one once we saw the higher numbers. I didn't know any different at the time.. I hadn't met all of you! I was just beginning to research all of this even though I knew in my heart what was going on. He's very open to many other things.. just not this. I've since been running percentage comparisons.. I'm happy with my "human meter".. I've tested my "civie" kitties at the low ends.. I've tested Booger on her worst days and her best.. I know where the meter stands.. We'll be sticking with the Bayer.. but we'll oblige him with the curves.

I think that is a very smart approach. Good vets are hard to come by so sometimes we do what we have to so that the relationship works. My vet puts up with me much of the time. Only once recently when I questioned an antibiotic shot did he comment that you can't believe everything you read on the internet. Most of the time he commends me for doing my research. I too figured out that Max was diabetic with urine test strips and had him at the vet's office the next day.

Yes, he is truly one of a kind. A younger doctor with a love for animals and he's not so much a money hungry motivated one... He listens and responds and asks questions..But he has his own opinions too so I respect that

I love us (All of us animal advocates in the world).. someone's gotta do it for their sweet little hearts! They truly deserve the best!

If you've got a good vet that's great. Doesn't seem too difficult to give him some tests with the AT. Glad you've ot the bayer though, it will make things here easier.
