Nothing new to report. 4 P's in place. Tried to initiate playtime yesterday, but it was a no-go. *sigh* Oh well. I tried. Hope everyone tries to stay cool. Going to be another week (again) in the triple digits. Today will be Day 56 of the triple digit heat. I really wish they'd quit counting the days. It's depressing.

MY WISH: For God to help those who are ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For everyone to have great #s... For everyone to be OTJ.

Hi Angela, nice AMPS for Blackie. I wonder why no play for Blackie. Some cats just aren't into playing! Wow, that is awful with triple digits for 56 days, did you say? We're back to very warm weather but more humid lately. Hope you your day and Blackie's day goes well, too.

Curry is also hard to engage in play these days. Sidney will play all the time if given the chance.

I have Kitty Boot Camp at my home now w/Curry. She loves treats. So I will break up one of the chunks of the freezed dried chicken treats...into about 8-10 very, very small pieces.

I'll have her jump up to the couch to get a treat (initially, to train her to come to the couch) and then throw another treat as far as I can. (Sometiems I'll just throw the treat w/o having her jump up to the couch.) She'll jump off the couch and usually run or trot to the treat. So I'm engaging her larger muscles in her hind legs when she is jumping. After I've done that a few times, we move to her condo and do the same thing. I'll do this a couple of times a day. Sometimes that activity will get her revved up to play for a little bit. Her favorite time to engage in play, if she decides to play, seems to be in the evening. In the evening, if she doesn't seem to be interested initially, I'll play w/Sid and then Curry seems to get a little more interested and may engage then as well.

Just some ideas for increasing activity but of course it all depends on the kitty.

I hear ya on the heat. It was 106 yesterday. Glad I was inside in the a/c.

A very nice start for Blackie today. Looking for those greens too Blackie? bet you are.

Good luck with the play thing. Mannie is the same way - he simply does not play, try as hard as I do... I will have to try what Tena does... he loves those treats, maybe that would get him more active.

Bummer on the heat.... I feel guilty as we are lucky to break 70. I know too on the day counting thing - why must they do that... For a while here this spring they were counting the number of days we had with rain - omg, and then it was the number of days it has been since we had seen 70... unreal, and yep a tad bit depressing. I hope that soon you will get a break in the temps.

Good Grief on the heat! :o You poor Texas people.....i don't know how you handle heat like that. It must be the same as our -40 C weather, run into the house and into the car as fast as you can, stay inside and stay warm (except for you....stay cool!)

Very nice AMPS for Miss Blackie today. Maybe its just too warm for play time?

Thank you, Tena, for the info on trying to get Blackie to play. She IS jumping up on the couch, and my footstool a whole lot more, though. What I've done in the past is take a piece of chicken and have her run around the house a few times (I'm leading the way, of course), and then she'll get a treat. My bad about not keeping up on that.

Her leg are very musclar now. :lol: I swear that she's been pumping iron to build them up. :lol:

I'll have to try that. That should be one of those kodak moments.....bean running around the apartment w/kitty in hot pursuit of the treat. ohmygod_smile

Hi guys .. I don't blame blackie for not wanting to play .. 56 days of triple heat numbers? ay yi yi! Maybe you should call into the weather channel and have them start counting days until winter! Stay cool guys!

Very nice start for Blackie!!! Maybe she's not up for playing because of the triple digit heat?? I know my guys are flat and lethargic when it's hot outside, even though they're all indoor kitties with an air conditioner :-D !

This heat is just scary! Yesterday a friend of a teacher in my building was found dead in the bottom of her pool...she had a heat stroke while lounging in the pool! I'm just speechless.

Oh you poor guys! I hope it'll cool off for you guys soon. It's just been such a crazy summer!
