08/21/ Amethyst PMPS 151- PRAYERS PLEASE

Many prayers for you, your loved ones, your kitties and all up in your area. This hurricane would be the first to make landfall in your area in 30 years. Praying it will turn east and become a fish storm. Are you in eastern Mass or western?

Oh dear. You, and your sisters and brother, need to start taking steps to prepare. You may lose power too. I would worry about the insulin. Make sure you have several containers of water in case that goes out too. Praying, praying for all the folks up in that region of the country.

Dear Pamela, sending prayers of protection and safety to you, your family, friends and all of the animals. I pray that all of you remain safe. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Praying for you and your loved ones - please let us know how you are, as the storm progresses.
Hopefully it won’t be a hurricane when it makes landfall. But that still doesn’t mean it won’t be a serious and dangerous storm, with flooding dangers too.
Bless you Pamela and be well, ok.:bighug:

Sounds good! The communicating and praying part. If anxiety flares, keep talking to us here too. I hope you can get some rest at some point tonight. Oh, sweet Amethyst isn’t going to be happy Too bad you can’t sleep under the bed with her when the time comes. Yeah that’s silly right?!

Oh you know her soo well The Thunderstorms are suppose to start tonight and continue all the way until Monday:arghh::arghh:Her BG is going to go thru the roof:( Also any suggestions on how I can keep 50 Lev pens cold if we lose power????

if you could pack an ice chest - keep the pens in a box, maybe two, not loose, so they don't freeze. Keep the ice away from direct contact with the pens. Use your imagination?! Be McGuyver in a sense, if you don't have the proper tools:p;)
Thanks I will use my imagination and make sure the ice does not come in direct contact with them I have a Frio Bag but it can only hold 5 Pens, note to self to buy a cooler and more Frio bags with my next SS check I did not realize how unprepared I was with out power When my utilities got shut off last month my neighbor let me keep Amethyst insulin in her refrig, but this case is different Thanks for the help:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Pam, I am in the same boat as you are. Actually the hurricane is suppose to make landfall here in CT. I am dreading the power outage as they say it can be anywhere from 5-10 days. Thankfully I am not near the water but still we are going to be on the windy side of it. I hope I don’t have an issue with Lucky’s insulin. Sending prayers for you and Amethyst. :bighug::bighug:

Dear Pamela, and all in the path of Henri,
Stay safe in the storm! We will be praying for you and your family. If you have some of those blue "cold blocks" that you can freeze and then use in an ice chest, put them in your freezer now. If the power goes out you can wrap the insulin pens in thick layers of newspaper and put them into the ice chest with a cold block. Leave the other cold blocks in your freezer. They will stay colder there in the event of a power outage of several days. If you have a refrigerator thermometer or one of those small camping thermometers on a key chain, stick that in the cold chest.

Fill your bathtub with water so that you will have a supply to draw upon if something happens to the pipes or the water supply. If you are expecting heavy winds, put duct tape on the insides of your windows in an X pattern so that if a window breaks, the pieces of glass will not go all over the place. Get out your flashlights!!

Thinking of you! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm not quite old enough to remember the great New England hurricane of 1938, but I remember my parents talking about it and saying that there was no warning whatsoever. It took everyone by surprise. At least we have better weather forecasts now!
