I am so mad at my doctor! I gave Squallie a very skinny dose this morning because I had a doctor's appointment and couldn't be here to monitor him; right after I disposed of the used needle, the dr's office called and cancelled my appointment! Grrr.

On the good side, though, I think Squallie is feeling better. I don't want to make too much of it and jinx it, but...today he ate a bit more canned food - still less than 1/4 can, but everything is progress! - and, I know it may sound silly, but he's holding his head differently, more like the "old" Squallie. He just seems more engaged with the world around him. He took a couple of swipes at a feather toy, and I also got him to eat one of his old fave treats, which he has treated like poison the past few weeks! Fingers crossed that he is turning a corner re: appy and sense of smell. I know this doesn't mean he's not sick, but it's nice to see him happy.

Yippppeeeee and yahoooo  Prove them wrong , Squallie Bear , prove them all wrong :bighug:❤️:bighug:❤️:bighug:❤️:bighug: Such a TERRIFIC report , Lucy :p Extra scritches and hugs from me to Squallie !!!!!

This has made my day. :) I can rest easy now. It is a very slow process to get them back to eating normal. Have you tried an appy enhancer?

Oh, and as silly as it sounds, sleepy eating really does work

Sleepy Eating
Several members of Tanya's CKD Support Group have found that they stand more chance of getting their cat to eat if they wave a plate of food under the cat's nose as soon as s/he wakes up from a deep sleep. It's as if the cat is on automatic pilot and eats instinctively.

Yes, it really does! We've been doing that one for years, lol.

Yes, he's on cyproheptadine; it didn't seem to be doing much good, but his appy seems to be improving a little bit each day, so maybe it's working again. It's so hard to tell - I feel like we're not playing by the same rules anymore so I don't fully grasp the game!

Great news there about Squallie.......remember baby steps are better then no steps!! We all wish things would happen faster, but they don't and I've always applied this phrase to my business and everything else:

"I rather have a little of something, then a lot of nothing"
