He's now on 100% LC food and has been for ~12 hours.

He dropped from 153 to 108 naturally last night and has stayed there it seems.

This is a pretty good sign, I think :)

Very good sign! :) Are you still feeding any dry?

For now, yes. It's Dr. Elsey's CleanProtein Chicken flavor. Supposed to be <7% carbs according to their bag, apparently it fluctuates though in that range.

I realize though that they still won't be attaining enough moisture, but I have a really hard time with wet food with them. So, our goal is first to get him in remission and then figure out the wet diet and switch.

Looks like you got your wish! :)

Right? I didn't expect to be so close! At this point, I know it's above 100. I know that technically falls in the range of 80-120mg/dl but we want it under 100 right?

Would continuing the LC possibly do that or does he need a bit of insulin still to remedy that? Or is under 120 fine pre-meal?

He has been on 100% LC for only 12 hours. I guess you will know in a day or two if he will need insulin.
Ideally, you want him comfortably under 100, so if that means a little insulin support for a few days...it would give you a strong remission.

I wasn't sure how long it takes for the switch to have full effect. If he keeps averaging down slowly I can see it. However, I feel he might need at most maybe half a unit per day (0.25u/shot) if it doesn't drop below 100. I'm hoping when I test @ 10 AM he'll be under morning numbers. :)

We gave him 0.25u tonight. +6.5 he's only ~15 lower than before. :(
The Lantus depot needs to build again. Let's re-evaluate the dose after 6 cycles on it. By then, he would have been on 100% LC long enough.

ETA:
When you first use a syringe, push the plunger all the way in to see if it lines up with the printed zero line. A lot of syringes have their markings way off and that affects the accuracy of the dose. Especially with smaller doses every little bit matters.

I followed the video in the tutorial here, I don't think I checked the bottom of the plunger vs line markings though. We did pull very little out. I'll check in the morning when we give an AM dose.

Attaching a photo I took of a couple of syringes. One on the left is at 0.50U when the plunger is fully pressed and the other is at 0.25U.
In some syringes, the plunger when fully pressed is above zero (with the needle facing up)!

The line for 0 is right at the end of the syringe, like the bottom on in the second set of pictures.

The end of the plunger rests 1/2 on each side of the line, like slightly below 0.
