Judy and Boomer

Well last night my husband opened our back door and didn't realize the screen wasn't closed. Luckily I looked up (at the sound of a cardinal at our feeder) and saw both cats escaping. I could not get my hands on Boomer; he was always just out of reach. And then he escaped from our yard and decided to stay in some bushes so we could not get to him. We were able to see him for quite a while but then unfortunately it got dark and we had to give up. He did eventually come up to the back door and I was able to persuade him to come in. He was gone about 3 to 4 hours. Talk about giving us heart attacks! I picked him up and cuddled him and gave him some head scratches (part of me wanted to yell at him for worrying us though).
And in the last couple of days he has decided he doesn't like his fancy feast any more. I had been feeding him four different kinds (the ones with the absolute lowest carb levels). We were heading out of town for the day yesterday so I resorted to trying a bit of the higher carb stuff that I still had on hand (just the clumps of meat, no gravy) and mixed a wee bit of that in his food. That seemed to work so he ate fine yesterday while we were gone. This morning I'm going to pick up some different lower carb ff for him to try.
I was worried that the escape last night (he seemed stressed/exhausted when he came in) would cause higher BG levels today but he's at 59 so that's good.
And he has an appt with his Dr on Monday; the preliminary appt to his dental work to be done.
