Good morning.

Failed reduction I guess, increased to 4.25U. He got down to 63 on the 4th but since it was the only low green on this dose and per Wendy's suggestion that I should have kept the 4.25 on 08/01 I just decided to increase today. Hopefully it was the right decision.

I received his crate for the drive to NYC and set it up this morning, it sets up easily. I still have to set it up in my car though. This is the one I decided on: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XU65TK/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20
Kind of like the one @LuvinThisPig had, but trying to save money so it was a little cheaper. Most of the reviews that brought it down to a 4/5 were because their dogs were tearing it up after many uses, so I am hoping this should be just fine for one road trip with a cat. I also just bought the kitty harness this morning that @Wendy&Neko suggested (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KAXQZE/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20). I debated getting a harness because he has never been in one before, and he does get a little nervous outside... but since it's going to be a long drive I figured I should give it a try? I am going to try and get him used to it, at first make the Velcro noise with him in the room for a few days, and then try to put it on him in the house for a few days. Then maybe we will venture outside. I have to do more research on harness training but for now that is my plan.

Sarah question for you - you used the small cardboard squared for Pigs litterbox. How big is Pig? Shmee is 15.5 pounds normally (actually 15.9 last vet visit). I took out my Fancy Feast cardboard squares and they look very small next to him... I am wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy a travel litterbox (or even just a dollar store litterbox) if they are a little bigger.

I bought a pink harness from Amazon for Luci for our first plane trip a couple of years ago. She just became limp like when I put it on her...but that was ok..didn't need to get her out for a walk and did NOT want her running away from me in the airport...it worked great! I know your driving situation is a bit different - and now we drive to/from Florida twice a year...Luci never uses her LB on the road. I buy the disposal kind (plastic with litter already in it)...and I take plenty of garbage bags along to put them in - when/if she does use them - which in her case it in the hotel room once we stop for the night - for whatever reason she doesn't want to eat/drink/or use the LB in the car....she stays in her carrying crate where she feels safe - although I've allowed her to come out (with her leash/halter on) to sit with us up front...otherwise she seems to like sleeping in her crate. Go ahead and buy the leash/halter and see if you can find those disposable LB's at the grocery store? Walmart? So convenient! Larger than the cat food box too...

Best to you and Shmee today!! :)

Look where I found him napping :cat::)

So adorable! I just bought Lou a bigger crate and a harness and leash for the trip this weekend. We got this harness: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1G9MVA/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20 for a steal and just got a generic lightweight leash (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014N459RW/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20). We ended up going with this crate: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MA3GZ8O/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20. I was also going to go with the one LuvinThisPig had suggested, but it had jumped up $20 in price while I was reviewing my options! I love how huge your crate is though!! I have a feeling mine won't be quite as big as I was hoping, but I just wanted something he could comfortably sprawl in. I doubt he'll use a litter box and I was surprised at how expensive disposable ones are. We have a litter box that has a cover and I think we're just going to bring that with us. Lou's a big boy so little boxes wouldn't work for us either. :p

I almost got that crate! Saw this one was cheaper for the bigger one so I figured might as well since we have such a long drive :arghh: I'm sure Lou will do great in that one. And I did not see that harness before, its so much cheaper and has great reviews, I actually just cancelled my order and am going to get this one! Haha thank you!! Shmee was 18" when I measured his chest... seems odd that I would have to buy a size large for a dog! What size did you get Lou and how big is he?

Hooray! I'm glad I could help! We got Lou a medium. The first time I measured him, he was laying down (laid down while I was trying to measure, haha), and his chest was 16". When I measured him sitting, I think he was either 17" or 18". He's a pretty big boy, about 15-16 pounds. It should be here tonight, so I can let you know how it fit him!

Ok cool. Yeah I have a feeling I might have to send mine back, I got the large. He was about 17-18" too and almost 16 pounds. We shall see!

No need to spend anymore money than is necessary. Pig is big as well and the cat food cardboard flats simply we're not large enough... Easy fix there, though.

Go to your local grocery store and ask for can and coffee flats. They have them in the hundreds from stock. You can simply break them down and tape up the edges later. That's what we did. Take a FF flat with you so they know what you are looking for, but bigger.

I hope the increase gets rid of some of those yellows, but safely.

I just took a litter box from home with me on the car trip. That way I could use it in the hotel when Neko overnighted, plus it smelled like home. On the flight, I bought an el cheapo plastic one as soon as I got there, then left it behind, easier to clean and reuse that cardboard. I took a cardboard one on the flight, and she didn't use it.

If you get a larger harness, and it has Velcro or adjustable buckle closures, it will fit a smaller cat. I didn't let Neko hit 15 lbs, but with her long hair, a large worked fine. I think her chest was 17" too.

PM +4 69
PM + 7 95

I did not wake up at my +5 alarm  I must have turned it off. Only reason I got up for +7 was I had to use the bathroom. Ugh! I do not want the depot to get ahead of us again.... I wonder if I should keep him on 4.25 tomorrow morning.
@Wendy&Neko or if anyone else happens to be up and wants to weigh in... curious of others opinions
