Jo wrote me with some questions; here they are with my responses.

Dusty has been working on his mats but I can't find the mat detangler like yours. I really think he needs some of the mats cut out because they are down to the skin.
I believe I got the mat cutter at Pet Supplies Plus or Pet Smart. PetCo or Pet People may have them too, if you ask. I could come over for a bit this weekend to do some more de-matting, in the mid-late afternoon after I drive a rescue transport on each day.
Barring that, I think it might be best to have him shaved down at the vet and maybe get a bit of a checkup to make sure the vet thinks he is doing well.

He is not eating like he was----when he goes back to the food after it has been down, he doesn't seem to want to eat it and if I put fresh down then he eats it.
Based on how low he was when I stopped by, the insulin dose was a bit high and he probably was eating to keep from going too low. Since you've cut the insulin down to less than 1 unit, and due to his weight gain, he may not be as hungry. We'd expect his appetite to start tapering off some as he got closer to his ideal weight and the insulin dose was adjusted to a good one for him.

I have a question about some new food that I got. It is Fancy Feast Delights with Cheddar and there are 3 flavors Chicken---Turkey---Salmon and Cheddar Cheese Feast so let me know what the carbs are on it because thought it might have more protein with the cheese. Well let me know about the food when you have time.
The food list I have doesn't include those yet. About the only other way to know if those would be good for him is to feed him, then test him to see what happened to his glucose level. Some signs it has too many carbohydrate calories are if he goes back to drinking and urinating a lot.

Guessing that it has cheddar in it I am going with "exorbitant carb count".

Another item is the word DELIGHT that makes me think of gravy and gravy is high carb to get it yummy for cats to eat it.

But BJM is right- the only way to test is to fed it to your kitty. And it might just end up in the hypo kit

I just wish her hands were strong and steady enough to home test. *sigh*
D*mn arthritis.
