08/06/14 Kitty Boo 139 AMBS then bounced!!

Ok..this morning his morning BS was 139...did the 1 unit and fed him and at 2:00 he had bounced to 339!! My goodness...this up and down is driving me crazy. So what do I do when he gets in normal range the next time? Not give him any insulin and see what happens?

Okay first an earned reduction from 1.5 is 1.25 not 1

Second, a bounce that 3 days to completely clear their system. During that time you don't count those days in how long a dose has been held

Third..because of the shed when you change a dose up or down you get new dose wonkyness where you get higher numbers because he's using the new dose as well as part of his shed so in effect until the shed readjusts to the lower dose he's still getting the higher dose. The shed also takes about 3 days to readjust.

So right now you have both a bounce off the low as well as New Dose Wonkyness going on. All you do is ride it out.

At this point should she stick with the 1u to see how that settles out (since she has 3 cycles on it already), or do 1.25u shots since that's the earned reduction?
