Kitty Boo bounced! Last night at his 8:00 feeding, he ate and then later vomited it up but ate it back...I guess I should have checked his blood sugar at the 2:00 or watched him closer after that, because Tom gave him his 2:00 AM feeding as usual, but during the night he must have dropped as it was back to 333 this morning!

I need some guidance on once he is in the green/blue area to increase feed or decrease insulin? Not sure what to do...because this happened last night... :(

Well the answer isn't that simple. First thought would be neither, ideally food is adjusted by the weight of the cat. Just like with humans, overweightfeed less, underweight feed more, perfect weight leave diet alone. Your vet can tell you what Kitty Boo's ideal weight should be from there a general rule of thumb is 20 kcal per pound of ideal weight. With mine on average that works out to 1 (5.5 oz) can of Friskies per 9-14lb cat. I feed 16 on 20 cans per day because I have 4 that are at ideal weight are 15+lbs and a kitten who is growing so she needs more.

Insulin-- this is where testing and lots of it comes into play. Since your goal is to find a dose that holds him in the 40-120 range as much as possible. But not drop him below 40. So anytime you get a reading lower than 40 you reduce the dose by .25 but the only way to catch those lows is with a meter because both Autumn and Cassanova can drop into the 30s and be asymptomatic or not displaying any outward signs of hypoglycemia.

When mine are running high I test less when they are in normal range I test more to make as sure as humanly possible that I don't miss a low.

A bounce is just that a temporary liver freak out for a multitude of reasons. In this case probably from throwing up, either not enough food in the tummy when the insulin kicked in or just the stress of getting sick.

Yep, I read Mel's advice as being "keep it all the same and don't worry," too!

I hope the numbers are all settled back to what you expect tomorrow. :)
