I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to respond to everybody who posted on Squallie's condo yesterday! It was a crazy day, here. Thank you all for your encouragement and well-wishes! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Squallie seems to be pretty much himself, maybe not quite as active (although he's never really ACTIVE-active, if you know what I mean). He ate a small amount of wet food last night, and some more of the dry - as I suspected, he goes to town on the YA! I have tried crushing it and using it as a topping on the wet food, but he is less enthusiastic about that.

He was very dehydrated this morning; I don't know whether that is from the dry food and the Miralax, or whether there is something more sinister behind it. I have been syringing fluids (he hates it) and adding extra water to whatever wet food I can get him to eat, and this morning he drank two small bowls of water (I have not seen him drink from a bowl or fountain in ages and ages!). He has also had a couple of tablespoons of bone broth. He only ate about 1/2 ounce of his wet food, so I will probably cave and give him some more dry around lunchtime.

I have not seen him poop since yesterday. I am concerned that he does not seem to be getting his appetite back, even with the extra push from the appy pill. This makes me think there is, indeed, more going on here than meets the eye. :(

Thank you for the update. I hope it gets to be a better day for Squallie, which will make it a better day for you too. You take such good care of him, don't forget yourself in the equation. We love both of you, yanno. :bighug:

I hope Squallie will continue to eat for you and give you some poop today. I know it's not easy, but try not to think the worst. Enjoy that he is doing better and love on him. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Carla! :bighug:❤️:bighug:
I'm trying hard not to worry, hopefully unnecessarily, but it's so very hard to do! He definitely has all the love and cuddles and snuggles that he can bear, lol; I think he gets tired of so much attention. :cat: But, boy do I love to hear that wonderful purr! :)

Bless his heart, Lucy :bighug: He has been thru so much and at his age I would tend to believe it will take a bit of time to bounce back . Scritches to sweet Squallie and hugs to you ❤️:bighug: And a good US report awaits you both !!! Sending prayers to that end :bighug:❤️

Thank you, Beth! :bighug:❤️:bighug: He really has had a rough month, poor sweet boy.

Lucy, remember that Miralax draws all the water into his bowels to help the constipation. Have you thought about giving him some sub q fluids? It's not as hard as I originally thought when I did this for Shoes.

That's what I was thinking could be causing the dehydration, along with the dry food. I talked to my vet this AM and he said any time I can get up there, he'll show me how to do sub q at home. :) But I won't be able to get there until Monday. In the meantime, I'll keep syringing water and broth, and encouraging him to drink.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Enough already !!!! Bet it’s the food switch !! Mine get the Flying Mahoneys every time I let them have different . That and the ABs ... dovyou have Forti Flora and SEB . My go to during runny poops is SEB ... won’t eat it so I have to syringe with my “ cooperative” bunch :(:woot::eek: Sending prayers on top of prayers and hugs to you both :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I think that's going to be my next step. Poor Squallie, he really hates having anything put in his mouth, and now he's getting pilled regularly and I keep syringing food and water into him - I'm amazed he comes anywhere near me at this point!

:( I know , Lucy:bighug: Breaks my heart when they run and squat down low to try to avoid THE SYRINGE :woot:  :(

Also I always have to remind myself that I give 2hours between any meds and SEB...I literally set a timer with a note beside it to remind me why I set it  :woot: :arghh: :joyful:
I'm pretty good at remembering the 2-hr window on SEB, because one of my civvies was on it for a long time! :)

Is Squallie pooping good yet? Tell the little guy we are waiting for the "event" so he can feel better.
He has pooped some, but I don't know if he still is. I let him have a break from being shut up in the bedroom, but that makes it hard to tell who, of the four cats, is using what litter box and who is going regularly!
