Bg 301@+9
Ket 1.0

I was happy that she wasn’t vomiting at 3am & had normal stools, but after munching on Triology kangaroo freeze dried treats in the morning she vomited food (explosive one at that and low pitched meows before she did)

Ketone strips arrived today I tested her bg/ket and they were both really high

imo vomiting is caused by high ketones, I’m going to give SQ fluid soon and give 1 unit at the insulin time..

Some cats vomit when there is a large gap between meals due to build up of stomach acid.

Are these blood ketone strips you are using? Have you tried urine testing strips for ketones?

Is she eating okay?

True I try to feed her every hour because of that. This morning she regurgitated right after she ate. She throws up bile/stomach acid too but that’s usually well controlled by cerenia. From my previous experience with DKA her throwing up food is usually a sign of high ketones.

Yes they are blood ketone strips I use Caresens Dual meter. I’ve tried urine strips at home before but I have another cat so it’s kind of hard. lol The results I get from the blood ketone meter is pretty much the same as the one I get from the vet so I use this method

she’s eating well! She hasn’t thrown up since her ketones went down : )
