PMPS 468
315 +8.25

J.D. hasn't been eating full meals much lately, and I haven't been giving him his Pepcid or Ondansetron lately either. I might need to start that up again. He has eaten 1st Breffis between AMPS and +1 and 2nd Breffis between +3 and +4, just not all at once. And, yesterday at work, he just doesn't tend to eat much while laying under my desk at work.

The cats are currently outside. Ginger is out there somewhere, and J.D. is laying on the deck. I have to go find Ginger and bring the cats in. Test J.D. and then go to the auto shop to get my car's oil change and safety inspected for the long trip to Pittsburgh. They say it will take about an hour, so I will be gone from +4.5 to +6 or so.

Vines to all those that need them.

Nice numbers there J.D. Now just keep going nice and easy and slow :-D

Have a safe trip Dyana

Re: 08/03 J.D. AMPS 318, +3 189, +4 162, +6 80

First, J.D.'s last blood test surprised me by being over $400. Now my $24 oil change in my car today, just turned into over $1100. The mechanics (who I trust) said that one back brake was about to freeze and the pad was gone. That I need new calipers, rotors, two new tires, and an air filter  I had told them I wanted the car safety inspected as I was taking a long drive to Pittsburgh in (less than) two weeks. I'm just glad they did all that, as I wouldn't want anything to happen in transit. We are probably going to be picking up Donna (from Donna and Shiloh GA) on the way, and the car will be full with two people and three cats.
The auto shop gave me a ride home, as the repairs will take all day, so no shopping for me today, like I feel like spending any money at all, right now. So, I guess today is house cleaning day...

Well, along with the car repairs, necessary since you will be traveling, J.D. is keeping you on your toes. Have the balance of a good day, try not to think about the bills. LOL

Re: 08/03 J.D. AMPS 318, +3 189, +4 162, +6 80, +7 83

Thanks Barb. That's what I try not to do.

GARGH! The automobile money pit!! We have been struck by that, too. It adds up so fast, but you have to have it done. At least you know you'll be safe on your trip. Great numbers for J.D. today - woo-hoo!

Sending appy vines for JD, we know how stressful not eating can be on the bean.

Whoa there on the dive JD, Mr Liver will have issues.

And, up to red.

J.D. ate almost all of his 1st Dinner ;-)
I also saw him eating a bit of left over food at +11, but I knew by then that he was already on the way up so I didn't stop him and I only saw him eat a couple bites anyway.

So, this leaves my Saturday night free. I think I'll go visit my neighbor.

Have a great visit! And sending X-tra $$$ vines to you for the car  I know how you feel...trying to get ready for this camping trip has been $$$ DH said we could have got a room and ate out every night   But better safe than sorry  Thanks for all the help today ;-)

I hope J.D. clears the bounce quickly. Sending good appy vines to J.D. Sorry about the big car bill, but at least you know you'll be safe.

Thanks. As I said before, I do trust these people. But, I did say something when he told me they did a wheel alignment and brought out a chart to show me. I said, you just did a wheel alignment. And he said, oh when was that, and I said two months ago when I bought the other two new tires, check your computer. He said that he would take that off the bill. And, (I didn't ask this but) why didn't they tell me I needed four new tires when I bought the first two? I could have gotten a $70 rebate if I bought four  Oh well :-| .

I'm off to have a beer (or maybe two) with my elderly neighbor.

I would bring that u to them about the rebate....I mean $70 can buy a lot of stuff .....geeeezzzzzz.....
Hope you are having a relaxing evening with your neighbor....sending hugs to you (((Dyana)))
(why was the blood work so much money??) Hmm....

Dyana, all I can do is send sympathy about J.D.'s numbers, and also the car expense. I hate when I'm backed in a corner, and am forced to pay, nuttin' you can do about it.

Like Pat said, ask about the rebate..maybe they can tweak the receipt to show you bought four of them.

Dyana, is this an instance where you would use R? I'm needing to learn all I can about when you use it.

Ugh, sorry about the added car expenses... it's always something isn't it :YMSIGH: I'm glad J.D. ate a little better tonight. Sending appy vines and feel good vines as well. Hope you are having a good night visiting with your neighbor,

Hugs,
Kathie

I could give J.D. some R tonight, since I will be home tomorrow (and I say that because when I give R it often effects his next cycle too, and I don't really like to be gone all day at work the day after I give R at night, but have done it on occasions when J.D. has been in high numbers for a long time and I need to break him out of it...what a run on a sentence), but he seems to be in these 24 hour cycles lately where he comes down for one cycle and up for the next. It's hard judging the amount of R to give and when to give it, because sometimes I misjudge and then J.D. if I give a touch too much (and J.D. only needs a drop) or if he has decided he is going to start coming down from a bounce at the very same time that I give the R, he can dive down 300 or 400 points way too fast and that just sets up another bounce. J.D. is J.D. and his bounces usually don't last that long. He will probably be green again tomorrow, so I decided not to give him any tonight and just let him be and I get a good night sleep and I don't run the risk of a dive.
You know Checkers best and how long he bounces and you will learn how much R insulin he needs to come down. What you want is to bring him down gently about 50 to 100 points over that 4 to 5 hour period that the R insulin is in affect. You will need to be around to test for those 4 to 5 hours, at least initially. I will copy and paste all this in your condo, in case you don't come back to this one.

Yeah, I am slightly upset about the rebate, because I remember thinking at the time, should I just buy 4 tires to get the rebate, but I thought all my tires were in good shape. The last time I thought I had a flat (it turned out it wasn't  ) they told me the tires were "brand new", I guess time has flown and that was longer ago, than I thought.

The tests: I didn't know any better. The vet was brand new at the practice, and she didn't even know the codes to enter the tests into the computer, so they didn't charge me anything after the visit. I just told her I would like him tested for B vitamins and maybe also for Potassium, and to throw in a Phosphorus test too, if she could. I think the FOLATE & VITAMIN B12 (COBALAMIN) test was the most expensive at $215 and the ELECTROLYTE PANEL was $119 (although I could have those two mixed up) and the PHOSPHORUS was $72. She said since she didn't know the codes that I could pay when the results came back and I went to pick up the paperwork. I thought it would be around $150. The $406 made my eyes go  At least all his results are good ;-)
