Hi
Rhinog has been doing really well. We are seeing lots of green and not too much bouncing. He even earned a dose decrease.
Then we went away for a night! Big mistake. We left him in the hands of the in-laws. They looked after him for a week in May so we thought they knew the ropes.

Yesterday's PMPS was 182. Great. So we asked them to give just 0.5 units as there would be no-one about to test. We had left some food in a timer for +3 (thank goodness).
Today's AMPS was 256 so we asked them to give 0.75 units.
We got back for PM shot and PMPS was 382.
Then I checked the fridge. An old bottle of Canninsulin that I had forgotten all about had been moved. We contacted the in-laws straight away and our worst fears were confirmed. They had given three month old Canninsulin!!! ohmygod_smile

I'm hoping it doesn't have any activity left but who knows! They didn't roll the bottle so it won't have been mixed.
I feel quite sick when I think of what might have happened and how low he may have gone at +3 Hopefully this evening's pink preshot is from lack of insulin and not a bounce.

DH thinks I worry too much but I'm sure everyone here will understand how I'm feeling.

The canninulin has been thrown away and his numbers are coming back down quite quickly back on the usual 1 unit of Lantus.

I'm very grateful Rhinog is still here. Thanks for understanding.

Ruth

well I don't know anything about giving the wrong insulin but I am glad to hear that his numbers are coming back down already ...

This story makes me think about the bottle of N I still have in my frig not sure why I have not thrown it out but I have not but after seeing this even though I at this time am the only shot giver makes me think I really should not be keeping it next to the lantus in my frig so glad that Rhinog is Ok

That was a really scary story! nailbite_smile :o I'm so glad to hear Rhinog is ok.

Omg, just when you think all is well. Well it's gone, and he'll be back on track soon. wow - what a story. Glad to hear too that the numbers are getting back on track.
