Squallie is tired today, he was busy playing and chasing the other cats well into the wee hours last night, lol.

I am absolutely beside myself - I am so upset, I feel sick. A black snake got in my house today, unbeknownst to me, and got in my son's birdcage, killing two of his doves. Not only does he love his birds, he also uses them in his work (he's a magician). He has a very special bond with his birds and this is going to break his heart. My other son was home and got the snake out; I told him to take it down the road away from the house before releasing it, but now I'm afraid it will come back.

Thanks, guys. It was really pretty awful; the snake had it's tail wrapped around one dove's neck (it was dead) and was trying to swallow the other one. I'm still really upset about it.

No idea at all how it got into the house, Carol, bit it's an old house and we've had them get in once or twice before. They've never dona any damage, 'tho; I had no idea a black snake would do what this one did! I just feel terrible for those poor birds.

Yes, it really was. I am absolutely terrified it will come back and get the remaining two birds! My son also has a small rabbit (dwarf) and now I'm worried about him, too.

Is there any safe to birds and rabbit see-through, air circulating netting you can put over the cages? Thinking snake can't get through netting.

I was wondering about that myself. My son is going to check around at the local "farm" stores and see what they have.
